Whitney Houston & Lenny Kravitz make up the ingredients of this edition of TGJ’s Screen Juice.

How and why?

Major news below…

Whitney-Houston-001

The British Oscar winning director Kevin MacDonald has set out to create a feature film documenting the life of the late Houston.

He shared:

I want audiences to walk out of the cinema and feel positive about Whitney and her music.

The film will include interviews with her loved ones, collaborators, Clive Davis and dig deep into the highs and lows of her short life.

I want to reveal a woman that even her most die-hard fans never knew; and a woman those new to her life and music will never forget.

She changed the way pop music was sung – bringing it back full circle to its blues and gospel roots.

Although we won’t shy away from the darker parts of Whitney’s life – her descent into addiction – I want audiences to walk out of the cinema and feel positive about Whitney and her music.

The documentary will be released in 2017. An exact date is yet to be set.

Elsewhere, Lenny Kravitz has joined the cast of Lee Daniels‘ exciting new series Star.’

The show tells the story of three female singers who join forces to form a girl group, but soon discover that their passion for music is threatened by the music industry and the sharks and snakes that exist within it.

Lee’s fans were elated to learn that Quincy Brown has joined the series. Today, they’ll be over the moon to discover that Lenny Kravitz has joined him!

‘The Hollywood Reporter’ shared:

While Empire is told from the point of view of music executives, Star will be told from the perspective of the artist. Benjamin Bratt and Queen Latifah headline the series, which gives Fox a potential companion for ratings juggernaut Empire after the network previously attempted a reboot of Urban Cowboy to fill that slot. Lenny Kravitz guest stars.

A premiere date is yet to be announced.

Just leave Whitney, Michael, Prince and other musical legends alone. Its like Jimi Hendrix once said “Your worthy more dead than alive. ” muthfuckas already talking about a bio about Prince ! Purple Rain alone is the ONLY movie ya need. Man hasn’t been dead no more than this day of last week !! And its crazy how they have no remorse invading their privacy. They’ll disguise their greed as showing love but where was everyone when Prince was release those two last albums ? I had my copies from 14 and 15 along with iTunes receipts.

A documentary of that type might actually be good, just like Amy was last year. So praised, successful and award-worthy. Unlike the bland and sensationalist little films they do from time to time.
RIP Whitney aka True Legend-Once in a lifetime singer-Very few in a century.
