‘Basketball Wives LA‘ star Brandi Maxiell has rescued the series from a worrying ratings slump it faced last week.
Good news below…
Currently in its fifth season, the LA arm of ‘Wives’ follows the lives of a group of women with romantic/professional ties to the world of basketball.
Its opening episode picked up 1.5 million viewers.
How things fared the week after? Miserably.
For, the second episode swept up a worrying 902,000 viewers.
All wasn’t lost.
Why? Several storylines fronted by Maxiell (her marriage, the introduction of her friend LaTosha Duffey and its affect on her friendship with cast mate Malaysia Pargo being three of them) pushed the show to a season high.
The exact number?
1,160,000.
Her rescuing of the series is ironic, as the show’s fourth cycle saw her “fired” by one of the show’s “producers”/cast mates Shaunie O’Neal.
Fortunately for VH1, O’Neal’s role as producer is more one of vanity than power.
Put simply, she lacks the clout to fire any of the ‘Wives’ without VH1’s approval, rendering the scene below comedic for those in the know.
