The entertainer has signed on to portray the Mary-Jane Watson in the forthcoming movie much to the delight of her swelling fan base.
Why?
Mary-Jane is Spidey’s love interest.
At least one recent draft of the script has Zendaya’s character dropping several clues to her identity as Mary Jane, one of the most familiar love interests in the Marvel superhero’s universe — and played by Kirsten Dunst in Sam Raimi‘s 2002-07 movie trilogy starring Tobey Maguire as the webslinger.

I will never deminish the privilege that being light skinned asserts but it doesn’t make her any less “black”, especially by American standards. Instead of dividing ourselves, let’s support each other…

I love Zendaya! She’s a great example for young women of color, and girls in general! Congrats to her! She’s certainly deserving.

She’s actually not playing Mary Jane . It was revealed at the press conference. She plays a small role in the first film but then her character gets bigger in future films , so I’m assuming she might even be a villain
I was really hoping to see her play Felicia Hardy. I think she would be sicknin as Black Cat!!
Isn’t she suppose to be releasing an album or something? I always forget what she does because the only time I hear about her is what she worse on the red carpet. Anyways, this version of Spiderman will flop like the second reboot. I’m over Spiderman tbh.

I´m still mad that Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone aren´t in these films anymore. They were perfect in the roles. Some real acting rare to see in this type of blockbusters. I just don´t care for another Spiderman. Plus that idea that Marvel will make it better is so tiring. No Marvel flick has moved me or anything. Over hype is crazy.
I fogot to say they are onto better things now anyway as expected. They will have great careers as respected actors. Many quality roles coming.
I agree with you on Andre Garfield/ Emma Stone mash up. How about we do a Storm movie and have that woman in Sparkle ( the dark skin sister) play her? Or they could come out with a robin film (tim duncan)
The Amazing Spiderman comics is epic…I prefer that universe!
I have never even heard zendaya before she used Taylor swift to boost her career then dropped her as soon as taylor swifts popularity went down and she seems so full of herself
