‘Mariah’s World’ Ratings Dip It Low

Published: Wednesday 14th Dec 2016 by Sam

It looks like Mariah Carey may share more with Christina Milian than an ex in Nick Cannon.

Because, just like the singer’s 2004 hit, the ratings of her new E! “docu-series” are dipping it low.

It’s not all doom and gloom, though.

Find out why below…

As reported, the December 4th premiere of ‘Mariah’s World’ commanded an audience of 1.24 million. Yet this was on E!’s sister channel Bravo and with the benefit of a lead-in from the immensely popular ‘Real Housewives of Atlanta. Its transmission on its own network was only watched by 630k.

Still, the pairing of the numbers for the one-off simulcast made for a “respectable” debut.

So how did the show fare without the padding?

According to TV By The Numbers, the second airing of the series this past Sunday was watched by 809k viewers, with a 18-49 rating of 0.4.

See the pros and cons?

On the one hand, when left to stand on its own merit, the show was unable to maintain its million + viewership. Yet, at the same time, it’s showing some growth on its home station.

Will ‘Mariah’s World’ sink or swim? It appears it’s a bit too early to tell.

We’re surprisingly enjoying the show. Indeed, it’s not the ‘Being Bobby Brown’ sized mess we thought it would be.

Mimi, as OTT as she can be, is coming across relatively well and her supporting cast make for engaging viewing. We actually like Stella.

The only drawback is that the whole thing feels like it would have been more appealing 5 years ago.

Like, in an era where Mariah has no problem sharing her assets all over Instagram, are folk really intrigued by what was once her mystique?

I said the same thing, it’s cute but it feels a bit dated.

    • Gabe December 14, 2016

Watched it, I was expecting a drama queen and she seems like the only normal one

  2. AmbeRussell December 14, 2016

from what i noticed, besides for a few shows, e! shows do not do well with ratings. total divas, which is on season 6, hasnt crossed the million viewers mark since season opener for season 5. wags gets .5 million views, and kuwtk doesnt do “HOT” numbers, with only 1.5 million viewers average or so.

  3. LISA LEVINE December 14, 2016

Never really thought of Mariah Carey as “normal”. But when watching the show she actually seems “cool”. Dont see much Diva Behavior, she seems like a grown woman, raising kids and trying to balance a career. Shes actually Likeable. I need more Singing at the piano. More Jazz moments

    • Teflon Boy December 14, 2016

Agreed, for me that’s the one thing missing. Scenes of her singing by the piano showcasing the full ‘Thank-God-I-Found-You/Mariah-Surprises-Fans’ beauty of her current 2016 vocals that true lambs know is there in spades when she’s not sleep deprived. It’s clear the drama and entertainment portion is set up to come from the backstage posse so more scenes showcasing her real artistry would benefit the production. As someone who was blown away by the SSFT I’m surprised that none of the slayage is being shown on film AND why pre-recorded vocals are being slotted in when she was vocally on Fire throughout. #PorQue?

No one cares about Mariah Carey anyone. That faded pop star is dated and over, hasn’t been relevant in 20 years.

    • Max December 14, 2016

Then why did you click on this post and comment?

    • AmbeRussell December 14, 2016

20 yrs? but we belong together came out in 2005, and touch my body was number one for 2 weeks in 2008. and has a plat. single with beautiful in 2013

    • Shaz December 14, 2016

You MC haters are the reason why she’ll forever remain relevant and talked about.
Thanks for clicking on this article you undercover stan???

    • Shaquiiii December 14, 2016

You are clearly tired and pressed. No one cares? lmao. bye.

  5. XoMoDe December 14, 2016

TV viewers are no more interested in watching her as the record buying public is.

  6. Shakira Stan December 14, 2016

As it should, the show is crap just like everything Mariah has released since 2008.

    • Shaz December 14, 2016

      Okay LB

    • The One’ December 14, 2016

If you believe this, you haven’t been keeping up with Mariah.

  7. True Lambily December 14, 2016

I love the show to me its the best show on tv rite now IDGAF about ratings!!

  8. JustCoastWitHa December 14, 2016

    of course.. she’s boring af

  9. Meteorite December 14, 2016

I may be a Lamb but I’m still not watching

    • Teflon Boy December 14, 2016

Then babes, you’re not a Lamb… you’re a wolf in Lambs clothing lol

  10. Weaveney December 14, 2016

Love Mariah but the drama is so superficial. No one wants to hear why dancers don’t like the backup singers. Her manager has so much plastic in her, she shouldn’t be allowed near hot surfaces. This should have been a stronger reflection of her songwriting and producing skills … It’s very cheap.

    • Teflon Boy December 14, 2016

Agreed, they’re missing a trick not showing how on fire Mariah’s signature talents are currently.., Balance wise things are off. I personally loathe reality shows, I’m here for the legendary talent and artistry.., which so far seems to have been left in the suitcase along with the Nanny’s passport:/

  11. AmericanHeartbreaker December 14, 2016

She is a FLOP nowadays. This bitchy mood she shares since her manager Stella Bulochnikov is with her she alieneted herself from most of her fans. That’s what people saw in the first episode, and that’s why they gave up on her finally.

Glad she still has All I Want For Christmas, she can make some money on that… she still can’t go on tour alone in the States, only as an opening act to Lionel Richie. Her career is in a massive mess status.

    Tell her girl, bye!

    • Shaquiiii December 14, 2016

It’s a contractual agreement with Ceasers Palace…That’s why she can’t do a a solo tour in the States…

  12. Avi December 14, 2016

Mariah is a clown who looks sillier with age. She spends half her time searching for whatever shred of relevancy she has left and the other half clinging to it for dear life. Embarrassing. Funny, but embarrassing.

  13. Cough Cough December 14, 2016

She’s making her coins as a legend should. TV show, MAC makeup line, Sweet fantasy World tour, Vegas Residency, All I want for you concert series @ beacon theatre, Joint tour with Lionel Richie dominating holiday radio once again… all in one year. She’s really doing the darn thing, FR FR. not everybody can or will have that to their credit almost 30 years after their debut

  14. mikey December 14, 2016

Mariah is making that coin and as much as we blog negative articles and make nasty comments….it still doesn’t change that fact!

The show is actually quite interesting and its weird that Mariah is the least dramatic person on the show.

Anthony Burrell is a big ole diva who seems a little overwhelmed by his new found success that even Mariah had to tell him not to get saucy on camera!

  15. Cinnamon Girl December 14, 2016

Forgot this crap was even on, and so did the general public

  16. Theman December 14, 2016

This is doing good for that network. Sam you are pathetic. You want for her to fail. But she isn’t. Her show rose on the network that it originated on.

  17. Theman December 14, 2016

This is so misleading, especially when ratings rises on E. Beyonce only had 600k viewers on HBO. But you deemed that a success. Phucking hater..

  18. Shaquiiii December 14, 2016

Where’s the article about her MAC LINE SELLING OUT?!!

  19. Mariah Carey December 14, 2016

Samantha dahhhling! My docu-series pulls in more viewers than your “blog” gets hits so don’t come for me unless I come for you!

I love the show it’s very funny and we can see another side of her. love it

  22. Ggggg January 2, 2017

Dip It Low wasn’t a Mariah Carey song, that wasn’t Christina Millian. Who even wrote this, clearly don’t know enough about the artist or how to research enough to actually write an article.
