Last year’s saw millions locked in to OWN‘s newest drama ‘Queen Sugar.’ And with good reason. It slays.
The Oprah Winfrey and Ava DuVernay production proved a gripping watch with its weekly depiction of tale of three very different siblings trying to honor their father’s legacy and resurrect his rural Louisiana farm.
Upon its debut last September, it became the second best premiere ever for the 6 year old network. It’s little wonder, then, why it’s being brought back a little earlier for its 2017 run.
Today OWN announced a two-night premiere for its sophomore season – June 20th and June 21st. The 16-episode order, which is currently in production in New Orleans, will be air in two halves: the first this Summer and the second in the Fall.
‘Queen Sugar’ is anchored by Kofi Siriboe, Rutina Wesley and Dawn-Lyen Gardner (pictured above). Bianca Lawson also stars.
