Winning! ‘Girls Trip’ Opens With Over $30 Million At Box Office

Published: Sunday 23rd Jul 2017 by Sam

‘Girls Trip’ finally landed in theaters this week after a whirlwind promotional tour and has delivered in a major way at the box office.

Universal’s R-rated comedy, which stars Regina Hall, Queen Latifah, Tiffany Haddish, and Jada Pinkett Smith, was awarded an  “A” CinemaScore from test audiences, indicating the major success awaited.

And its launch figures suggest that to be the case.

Find out the exact number below…

Per box office data, ‘Girls Trip’ has amassed a colossal $30.4 million during its opening weekend in the US.

The feat sees the flick open at #2 behind the broader reaching ‘Dunkirk’ ($51 million) However, it crucially avoids the summer slump that all-too-often affects comedies.

************

So very deserved!

We saw the film at a preview screening in London and the entire theater were laced with laughter from the beginning to end. A literal laugh out loud affair.

With this strong opening and mounting praise, ‘Girls Trip’ almost demands a sequel. Especially if it means more Tiffany Haddish – who is easily its breakout star.

Legitimately woke up STILL laughing from last night’s #GirlsTrip London screening! An absolute must-see movie! ??

Smh… Europeans control mainstream media. They are on the covers of their magazines, they have the most leading roles, they have the most TV shows on Primetime. They have the most endorsments everywhere. African faces are erased internationally on the movie promo material in order not to offend their Continental Europeans. All of this stuff is online.. researchable.. so when Africans on the Continent and in the Diaspora try to have something for ourselves (Do they remember they created segregation?)… let our people have something for ourselves.. they have so much already.. its really delusional and sad

What I find annoying is “rough night” , a movie where a bunch of female friends meet up and have a rough not similar to the hang over mixed with this movie but white women, gets a 3100+ theater release. And Amy P’s “Snatched ” had 3501 theaters. RN got pulled from theaters and under performed. Snatched did OK, but wasn’t great with numbers and only made $59 mill with a $42 mill budget (you have to double the amount to make profits BC theaters take half or so). Why wasn’t “Girls Trip” given that same release? It might have made more money if it was released as wide as those 2 movies. And I find it funny whites never want black people to talk about race and question the need for bet, while they are afraid to go see blacks in a comedy unless it is a Kevin hart or will smith movie. But it doesn’t matter, BC even when there is no support, and there are a lack if theaters, the movie us now the highest grossing live action comedy in 2017. With a new comer Tiffany, black balled Jada, talk show canceled queen LA and “what’s her name” & always third lead female Regina, this movie did beyond expectation and they are going to be mad there wasn’t a bigger capitalizing of this movie.

Nolan did it again with Dunkirk. He is just the best director of the last 15 years no doubt. And Hans Zimmer… yes!

      Troll bye.
      Your intentions are transparent

I love Queen Latifah. Tiffany is funny borderline too much. Regina Hall aka Brenda Meeks is my boo. Jada stars in my favorite movie of all time “A Low Down Dirty Shame”

    • JustCoastWitHa July 25, 2017

I was so happy that Jada brought that Peaches Jordan essence to this film, I thought we’d never see it again !

  12. prince July 24, 2017

Yes Tiffany MADE that movie great! I hope they do something a little more with Jada. I’ve known all of her roles has her progressively playing the same kind of character lately. Geeze, I know as u get older hollywood type casts you but STILL your Jada MF”n SMIth
