July 19th 2019 will bring with it Disney‘s second telling of the ‘Lion King‘ story.
Today, news on the moves it has made to inspire diversity and fair representation within Hollywood have emerged from its set.
Full story below…
The original movie saw only three of its characters voiced by African actors despite the fact that its story is set within Africa.
This time around, its producers have teamed up with Beyonce (who is to portray Nala) to rectify that problem by seeking performers of African descent to fill its roles to add an exciting layer of authenticity to the picture.
News of the move comes after fans learned that Beyonce was to pen original songs for its soundtrack alongside Elton John and Hans Zimmer.

Interested to hear the music with Elton. Hopefully we will get beyonce the vocalist, so she can please some of her fans who are here for her saaaaangin. We miss that, she’s not given it to us in studio since 4 ?. Sounds promising! The movies going to be LIT!
lmao roach the “vocalist”???? lmfaoooooooooooooo i guess if you consider that goat screeching she does as “vocals” lmfaooooooooooooooooooooo.
The irony of YOU referencing a goat. Lol
Stop copying me troll before I make you get on your knees and give Princess Jasmine what she needs.
More hypocrisy from Beyonce.
If she wants to help, she can always leave the project and give the job to an African woman.
lmao precisely.
…an african woman that can actually ACT lmfaooooooooo.
Or you can stop b i t c h i n about someone you don’t even know. How about you take care of your s h i t and just zip it b i t c h.
OMG! This is coming out on my 24th Birthday! Cool!
Lol it doesn’t matter who voiced the characters because they were ANIMALS. Now if this were a live action adaption of The Prince of Egypt you better believe I’d like to see black talent especially since all those ppl of color were voiced by ppl like Sandra Bullock and Michelle Pfeiffer.
“To add an exciting layer of authenticity”? Authenticity? There are no people in the film, they are animals, who don’t speak in real life…however I do think it’s a fantastic idea to hire more diversity but in this instance, and imo, I think hiring should be based on the ability of the voice over artist. Are the characters going to have African accents?
