As the hoopla surrounding Kevin Hart’s resurfaced homophobic tweets from the late 2000s continues, the funnyman has opted to step down as the host of the 2019 Academy Awards.

Less than 48 hours after the announcement Hart was set to be the host of next year’s biggest ceremony in entertainment, the 39-year-old actor has opted to step down due to backlash stemming from multiple homophobic tweets he created between 2009-2011.
The tweets, which can be seen by clicking here, have been the center of a media circus today and led to Hart issuing an apology. Shortly after the apology made its rounds, Hart stated:
Apparently, that conversation didn’t end well as just a few hours later Hart tweeted confirmation he would no longer serve as next year’s Oscar host.
