Tiffany Haddish wants to know why PETA, the organisation launched to protect animals, isn’t as interested in protecting the lives of black people as they face the threat of police brutality.
Her point of view below…
Haddish revealed that she will continue to wear fur, against the wishes of organisations like PETA, until they use influence and resources to fight the rights of human beings.
I’ll wear fur as much as possible. I don’t know if you guys know this about me, but I’m about to start protesting. I’mma wear fur every day until they stop killing black people. When the police stop killing black people, I’ll stop wearing fur. It’s my new protest. So sorry, PETA! Don’t be mad at me. Be mad at the police. When they stop killing black people, I’ll stop wearing fur… Because people are important, and so are the animals.
The actor Kendrick Sampson supports the idea.
Look at all the people pissed at this that haven’t ever stood up for Black lives. Look at the funding behind PETA and other animal rights organizations and how many people will post about a polar bear or a dog before the post about the ongoing centuries’ old epidemic of black/native/brown people being killed and tortured by law enforcement (and others) with impunity.
PETA generated $48.5 million in 2017 and, as far as its critics can see, hasn’t taken a clear or helpful stance on the Black Lives Matter movement which was launched to combat violence carried out against black people.
