Get ready for more ‘mixed-ish’ because ABC have picked up the comedy for a full season order.
Details below…
Born out of the ‘black-ish’ franchise, the Kenya Barris production serves as a prequel to the base show and chronicles the early life of Tracee Ellis Ross‘ character Rainbow – specifically her experiences growing up mixed race.
Per Deadline, today’s full season order is said to add nine more episodes to its freshman run, making for a total of 22 episodes.
‘mixed-ish’s September debut was the highest-rated new comedy series premiere and third highest rated overall in the all-important 18-49 demo. What’s more, the show – which stars Arica Himmell and Tika Sumpter – remains as the #1 new comedy of the season in adults 18-49 with a 1.80 demo rating.
Speaking in a statement, ABC Entertainment President Karey Burke said of the show:
“mixed-ish has established itself as one of the sharpest, funniest and most original new comedies of the season.”
She went on to say of its full order (and that of fellow new titles ‘Stumptown’ and ‘The Rookie’):
“Thanks to the brilliant creative teams behind these series, along with the phenomenal casts and crews, for delivering three incredibly entertaining and distinctive shows. We’re so proud of this great crop of shows that are all off to strong starts this fall, and we can’t wait to bring more fantastic episodes to our schedule this season.”
Congratulations!
