Lupita Nyong’o has stepped away from a movie she was set to star in.
Find out why below…
Lupita was scheduled to star in a remake in John Woo’s remake of his 1989 action adventure ‘Killer’ but has now stepped away from the project because of scheduling conflicts.
Woo broke the news at the Hawaii International Film Festival.
There was a scheduling problem because she’s so popular right now! We rewrote the script and it took so much time…she had to leave for another project.
Woo is still keen to see a woman lead the picture.
The biggest reason why I wanted to do this movie again [is] because [I wanted] ‘the killer’ to be a woman–that’s exciting to me. It will make the movie have a different look.
Chow Yun-Fat starred in the original.
One of the reasons Lupita was forced to walk away from the movie is because she has signed up to star in Danai Gurira‘s HBO release ‘Americanah’ as well as an adaptation of Trevor Noah’s ‘Born a Crime.’
