‘Aladdin’ Lead Reveals He’s Landed No New Auditions – Despite Movie Generating A Billion

Published: Wednesday 4th Dec 2019 by Sam

‘Aladdin’ broke box office records and delivered over a billion dollars for Disney. However, the live-action remake of the flick hasn’t generated automatic success for its lead Mena Massoud.

Speaking in a new interview, the star got all sorts of candid about what life has been like since the film’s May release.

Details below…

Waxing honest to the Daily Beast, the Canadian-Egyptian says the roles haven’t been rolling in after starring alongside Will Smith in the hit film:

“I’m kind of tired of staying quiet about it. I want people to know that it’s not always dandelions and roses when you’re doing something like Aladdin.

[People think] ‘He must have made millions. He must be getting all these offers.’ It’s none of those things. I haven’t had a single audition since Aladdin came out.

The big truth is I haven’t really seen a big anything from [Aladdin].”

The 28-year-old went on to say of his reality:

“There’s always a wild card or two when you’re casting. I’m usually the wild card. In a room of Caucasian guys, a director might be like, OK, let’s see, like, two guys who aren’t. And maybe they’ll be the wild card choice.”

It’s not all doom and gloom, though. Because Massoud is gearing up to star in thriller ‘Reprisal,’ which premieres on Hulu December 6th. He notably scored the role before the release of ‘Aladdin.’
