John Boyega is levelling up in partnership with Netflix.
For, the British-Nigerian actor has inked a lucrative deal to produce a slate of African film projects for the streaming giant.

The multi-year deal teams Boyega’s UpperRoom Productions imprint with the streaming giant, with a view to create content centered on the African diaspora. Specifically the West and East of the continent.
Word is that the ‘Star Wars’ actor is already readying three features – two from Nigeria and one from Egypt.
The broader approach will be to develop projects based on African IPs – from Nollywood classics, to screenplays, to mythologies and key books.
Speaking on the pact, which comes weeks after Netflix announced their first African original series, Boyega gushed:
“I am thrilled to partner with Netflix to develop a slate of non-English language feature films focused on African stories and my team and I are excited to develop original material. We are proud to grow this arm of our business with a company that shares our vision.”
Netflix’s VP of International Film, David Kosse, added:
“Africa has a rich history in storytelling and for Netflix, this partnership with John and UpperRoom presents an opportunity to further our investment in the continent while bringing unique African stories to our members both in Africa and around the world.”
