Tyra Banks Responds To Twitter Backlash Over ‘America’s Next Top Model’ Clips

Published: Saturday 9th May 2020 by Sam

Tyra Banks is taking accountability.

As reported, the supermodel turned super-mogul came under fire – somewhat randomly – when old clips of her conduct on ‘America’s Next Top Model’ went viral.

So scathing was the retroactive feedback, it’s prompted a response from the star.

Her words below…

Taking to Twitter, a candid Banks said:

Respect to Ms. Banks. She handled that well.

If there’s any take-away from this, it’s that society has changed, voices have been given volume, and accountability – where necessary – is a must.

For yours truly, the hope is that this is case shut on the matter. Because, the fact is the very clips being re-rolled out now few (if any) bat an eyelid at when it was actually on air.

That is NOT to say the content therein was “OK.” But more so to highlight how this isn’t about Tyra being the wickedest in all the land. No. It’s more about how the evolution of social and cultural dialogue can change how we look back on matters like this. And, most crucially, change things for the better moving forward.

Tidbit: Check out our recent chat with ANTM’s Miss J Alexander – who *seemed* to hint at a possible revival of the show.

Your thoughts?

Cause we were literally 10 years old when the show aired.
    🤡🤡🤡🤡

Tyra was feeding us toxic ideologies and we were absorbing it as teenagers.

How much did Tyra pay yall TGJ?
Cause u guys are coming up with all sorts of lazy excuses to try to justify tyra banks crazy antics.

Tyra deserves every bit of backlash for her antics

Reading the comments, I totally agree with every thing said. Tyra Banks had an opportunity to break the cycle of all the bad things that go on behind the scenes in the modelling world and whilst she didn’t condone the anorexic body shape, she kept the “bitchy” weight commentary and negative feedback in the name of tv. Immediately glad this programme is off air.

We don’t know the Industry. Everyone is so sensitive and quick to call out “that horrible” “that’s degrading” but that is the industry of entertainment. It’s hard and times have changed but the internal operations have not. Not even with MeToo or Alllivesmatter it is still the same in the inside. Make gay people are the last people to get selected to parts because of image. If the industry was easy then everyone will be a star that went for it but that is not the case. I recommend watching Hollywood on Netflix because it’s a beautiful production on how the industry is f***** up.

The woman with the gap still ended up winning

Not excusing her behavior? But Tyra herself was called fat as a young model, which made her go commercial, and later as a judge by Janice Dickinson. Fashion = lbs under 🔬

Reading the post, and the internet in general, I was expecting some kind of really harsh, mean, over the top words from Tyra. 15 years ago things were different. Standards were different. And lets not forget Tyra did break a lot of those standards and molds and stereotypes. I think people are overreacting as always in today’s cancel culture. She didn’t belittle her in any way. She made a comment. And in the heat of the moment in realty shows things might come out different. ALSO if the girls cant take a little heat and unfiltered honesty from the judges, they definitely aint ready to be models, or in the public eye, because upon their first mistake, all YOU vultures on standby are gonna attack, just like you all condoning Tyra now, so I find most of you hypocrites.
