Jada Pinkett Smith sent shockwaves through the internet yesterday when she confirmed August Alsina‘s claims of a romantic relationship.
Taking to her Red Table Talk platform on Facebook Watch, the actress was joined by husband Will Smith – and together they lifted the veil on what had been a family matter.
Join us below to for a summary of what was laid out and laid bare…
The Relationship DID happen
(August Was Not Lying)
Early in the video’s 12 minute runtime, Jada fesses up to having engaged in a romantic union with the R&B singer. But there was a caveat…
…The Relationship Occurred While She & Will Were Separated (And On The Brink Of Divorce)
While many received the initial story as a case of alleged infidelity, Jada and Will dispelled this by revealing that they were separated at the time. A frame simply billed as “four, five years ago.”
Will notably added “I was done with your a**” when unpacking how (unbeknownst to the public) their much-revered marriage was on the cusp of total collapse.

This Was Their First Time Addressing The Drama
From the onset of the episode, The Smiths made clear that this was the first time they’d spoken on the situation. They specifically mention that they have no idea where the statements from reps denying Jada’s relationship with August came from.
The Smiths Re-Affirmed Their Commitment To Each Other
Echoing the previously discussed evolution of their marriage into a “life partnership,” Will and Jada made clear that this remains their status today.
The episode ended with the couple fist-bumping and joking “bad marriage for life.” A playful reference to Will’s blockbuster ‘Bad Boys’ movie franchise, but also a ringing reminder that they aren’t going anywhere.

*************
Say what folk will about the matter, but there’s no denying Jada and Will handled that with seasoned finesse.
Olivia Pope-ing at its best, The Smiths all at once took control of the narrative and took accountability too. All without blemishing August in the process.
By approaching as such, they’ve arguably put the issue to bed. Or have they? What are…
