Nick Cannon FIRED By ViacomCBS, Controversial Comments On Race Labelled Anti-Semitic

Published: Wednesday 15th Jul 2020 by Sam

As reported, Nick Cannon came under fire for comments he made about race. And now the media mogul has been fired for said verbiage.

Full story below…

Speaking about the current racial climate on his podcast Cannon Class, the ever-busy host and producer described white people as as “a little less,” “closer to animals,” “the true savages,” “acting out of a deficiency so the only way they can act is evil.”

He added:

“You can’t be anti-Semitic when we are the Semitic people. When we are the same people who they want to be. That’s our birthright. We are the true Hebrews.”

Cannon followed with statement that acknowledged the problematic tone of his words, which he admitted should have been articulated better. He notably, however, did not apologize.

ViacomCBS weren’t impressed and have consequently fired Cannon:

“ViacomCBS condemns bigotry of any kind and we categorically denounce all forms of anti-Semitism.

We have spoken with Nick Cannon about an episode of his podcast ‘Cannon’s Class’ on YouTube, which promoted hateful speech and spread anti-Semitic conspiracy theories. While we support ongoing education and dialogue in the fight against bigotry, we are deeply troubled that Nick has failed to acknowledge or apologize for perpetuating anti-Semitism, and we are terminating our relationship with him.”

It’s worth noting that the media entity owns MTV – where Cannon’s ‘Wild N’ Out’ just got renewed for three more seasons. Also housed under their corporate umbrella is Nickelodeon, a platform the star has appeared on often in different capacities since the 90s.

It’s not immediately clear whether his Viacom projects will proceed without him or cease altogether, but what is for sure is that there have been big repercussions.

Time will tell if there’s any effect on Cannon’s hotly anticipated talkshow, which is being produced via his production company NCredible Entertainment and Debmar-Mercury (who helm The Wendy Williams Show).
