The Oscars are making some major changes.
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has released a new list of diversity and inclusion rules for the Best Picture nominees.

The Oscars announced their new set of rules to bridge the diversity problems that have confronted in the past. While the new set of rules will not apply to movies related in 2021 or 2022, as they won’t begin until the 2024 Oscars, movies released next year will have a form filled out by the filmmaker that indicates how closely their film aligns with the new standards.
Some of the most notable rule changes include: at least one lead or significant supporting actor from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group, at least six people on the crew are from an underrepresented racial or ethnic group, Must offer training and work opportunities in below the line to people from underrepresented identity groups, and must offer paid internship or apprenticeship opportunities, in a variety of departments, to people from underrepresented identity groups, and must actually be employing people in those positions.
