‘Sister, Sister’ Hits Nielsen’s Most-Streamed List After Landing On Netflix

Published: Sunday 11th Oct 2020 by TGJ Team

Over twenty years have passed since ‘Sister, Sister’ ended its iconic run. However, thanks to Netflix, the 90s show has now landed on Nielsen’s Most-Streamed Shows List.

More details below…

The full six seasons of the sitcom (that’s 119 episodes) landed on Netflix on September 1, with many of the show’s fans rushing to the streaming service to re-live its greatness.
In doing so, the Tia and Tamera Mowry fronted show made its way onto Nielsen’s Most Streamed List for the week of Sept. 7 to Sept. 13.
Premiering in 1994, the show originally ran on ABC until being canceled after two seasons with the network. It was immediately picked up by The WB, where it stayed for another four years, ultimately ending in 1999.
Beyond making household names out of its leads, ‘Sister’ also amplified the stars of Tim Reid, Jackée Harry, Marques Houston and Deon Richmond.
‘Sister, Sister’ is not the only 1990s/early 2000s sitcom with a predominantly African American cast to come to Netflix. The media giant also acquired the rights to stream the Brandy-fronted ‘Moesha’, ‘The Parkers‘, ‘One on One’ and ‘Girlfriends,’ to the excitement of many.
