‘Empire’ fans lit up five months ago with FOX took to press to announce its former flagship series would be rolling out a spinoff starring central character ‘Cookie’ (portrayed by Academy & EMMY Award-nominated actress Taraji P. Henson).
Refreshed reports, however, have confirmed plans around the ‘Cookie’-based show have crumbled.
Details inside:
“The potential “Empire” spinoff centered on Cookie Lyon starring Taraji P. Henson is not moving ahead at Fox…
The spinoff was first announced as being in development back in July, part of a first-look deal Henson had signed with studio 20th Television. Details on the series were sparse at the time it was announced except to say it would “follow what’s next for Cookie” following the series finale of “Empire.” According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, the project will be shopped to other outlets.
“Empire” co-creator Danny Strong was attached to write the series alongside Stacy A. Littlejohn and Yolonda Lawrence, with Sanaa Hamri on board to direct. Lee Daniels served as an executive producer alongside Imagine Entertainment’s Brian Grazer and Samie Falvey.”
Yeah, nobody was going to watch this mess
The jussie smollett faked attack scene reign won’t let up! Keep hurts everyone career around him
No thanks
She been the same character her entire career! I need a show with Andre Lyon as the lead 👀
You must not have watched Proud Mary. Action flick nothing like Cookie.
She should try new roles and not keep herself in a box.
Right! We all loved Cookie and love Taraji but it’s time to move forward to other roles
Fox can eat a d***, a big black one
I mean what’s wrong with eating a big black one?
what’s wrong with that ? LOL
That ship has sailed
I rather see a spin off with phyne ass André Lyon!!! He looks so yummy!!!
Yeah, let it go. Power Book ll is utter trash with horrible ratings, this wouldn’t have been any better.
I wanted COOKIE BACK BUT NOT ON ANY STATION!##
I can’t wait, the show shouldn’t have ended. It has so much unfinished work. The ratings were yet high, and the show weren’t hurt by one person’s personal life.
I would have watched
