Sharon Osbourne Claims She Was “Blindsided” & Felt Like A “Lamb Out For Slaughter” On ‘The Talk’ As CBS Launches Investigation Into Racism Row

Published: Saturday 13th Mar 2021 by Sam

After initially issuing an apology to the Black community for a shocking outburst on The Talk, Sharon Osbourne is now claiming to have been “blindsided” by her co-hosts.

As reported, the TV maven was consumed with fury in defense of her friend Piers Morgan, whose dismissal of Meghan Markle‘s suicidal feelings saw him “leave” popular UK morning show Good Morning Britain. A development that took place against the backdrop of over 41,000 formal complaints about his conduct to UK regulator Ofcom.

Markle’s claims were unpacked during her and Prince Harry’s seismic interview with Oprah Winfrey and highlighted ill-treatment the couple says was racially charged. Specifically as relates to The Talk, it ignited a conversation about whether Morgan’s shocking dismissal was rooted in racism.

Osbourne’s fiery eruption, which is now a viral moment, has snowballed into a story in and of itself.

And now the host is adding fresh chapters.

Speaking to Variety, the 68-year-old said:

“I blame the network for it. I was blindsided, totally blindsided by the whole situation. In my 11 years, this was the first time I was not involved with the planning the segment.”

She says about eight minutes before the show began on Wednesday, showrunners called and ask her if they were green-lit to quiz her about Morgan – who she’d tweeted support for prior to the broadcast:

“I said, ‘Sure, they can ask me whatever.’ But then I get on there, I say my piece and Sheryl [Underwood] turns around straight-faced, looks at me and is reading from a card with questions. I was just so hurt, caught off guard and stunned by what I was being asked and not prepared. I was honestly in shock. I felt like I was in front of a firing squad. I felt like a lamb held out for slaughter. … They had me there for 20 minutes.”

Osbourne’s words come on the heels of CBS announcing that they have launched an investigation into the matter. A statement read:

“We are committed to a diverse, inclusive and respectful workplace. All matters related to the Wednesday episode of ‘The Talk’ are currently under internal review.”

The latest development arrives as former ‘Talk’ co-host Holly Robinson Pete took to Twitter to allege that Osbourne branded her “ghetto” – with the heavy intimation that it led to her being axed from the show.
