Armed with the success of this Spring’s ‘Coming 2 America’ which delivered big wins for Amazon‘s Prime Video service, the legend has signed a first-look deal three-picture deal with Amazon.

The partnership will see the funnyman star in three films for Amazon Studios and develop original film projects for Prime Video and the studio more broadly with the possibility of starring in them too.

Murphy’s Amazon partnership is the latest chapter in his return to the spotlight, after a lengthy hiatus.

He previously teamed with Netflix on the Oscar-nominated ‘Dolemite Is My Name’ and is currently readying a fourth installment of ‘Beverly Hills Cop’ – which will also premiere on the service.

Speaking on his new deal, Jennifer Salke, Head of Amazon Studios, said in a statement:
