As Ne-Yo fans ready themselves for the release of ‘Self-Explanatory,’ the long-awaited succeeding studio album to 2018’s ‘Good Man,’ more good news surfaces about projects the 42-year-old is attached to.
Just months after winning rave reviews for starring opposite Keri Hilson and Serayah in VH1’s ‘Hip Hop Family Christmas,’ the singer (born Shaffer Smith) is reuniting with the latter for yet another yuletide-flavored flick.
Details inside:
While holiday film giants Hallmark and Lifetime are readying their onslaught of Christmas movies to dominate the season, BET+ has announced its intent to get in on the action. Enter ‘Sound of Christmas,’ which stars Smith and Serayah.
Directed and written by Booker T. Mattison, ‘Sound’ serves as the film adaptation of ‘The Replacement Wife’ by bestselling author Tiffany L. Warren.
Also starring Draya Michele, Michael Anthony, Roxzane T. Mims, and more, the yuletide flick – slated for a December premiere – focuses on a “down-on-her-luck woman facing eviction just before Christmas who must navigate budding romantic feelings for a handsome but grieving billionaire when she takes a job nannying for his two children right before the holiday.”
That’s not all the GRAMMY-winning singer-songwriter is up to these days.
It was announced earlier this week he’ll star alongside his real-life aunt/veteran actress-comedienne Kym Whitley in the indie romantic comedy ‘The Pact.’ Written and directed by Robert Mychal Patrick Butler, the film follows best friends who “made a pact in college to get married on their 30th birthday should they both be single at the time.”
As of time reported, no tentative release date has been announced for the rom-com.
