Anchored by Brandy, Eve, Naturi Naturi Naughton, and Nadine Velazquez, the show followed a group of friends who had a shot at reclaiming their glory years.
In the 90s, they performed together as part of the female rap group – the Nasty Girls. Fast forward to the present and their lives were vastly different. ‘Queens’ chronicled their journey towards a comeback.
A standout during pilot season, the series received a full order and was reportedly considered a priority for ABC. Especially with the available audience that had yet to receive a similar music-centric show following the end of ‘Empire’ over at Fox in 2020.
Despite finding a decent audience, the show was unable to reign over the ratings in the coveted primetime spot – a reality that unquestionably led to the network pulling the plug.

The show was horrible and very predictable let’s be honest. Although I do feel like it could’ve done better on a premium cable channel like starz or showtime where they could actually go deeper with the subject matter ABC kept it too PG for this kind of show. Also Nasty B******, Professor S**, Butterpeacan!? Come on y’all could’ve done much better with the names

It wasn’t a bad show, it was the network.. If it was BET+ or VH1 it would of been renewed for sure but little ole white power ABC?? Chile they not bout to waste money on that ish
White Power ABC ? What are you talking about – their coverage on cases like Ahmad Arbery and George Floyd has been nothing short of BLM support intensive.

They put. A LOT of money into the show, it just wasn’t good. Queens had a huge budget from the looks of it.
Everything Naturi Naughton touches is a flop. Her acting is overrated. Her role in the Notorious movie was so bad.

I said this would flop while it was in production❗️I don’t know who’s approving the shows that get pitched but this was off brand with ABC.
Of course everything Brandy touches DIES or FLOPS 💀💀💀

They set the show up for failure from the hump. For one it was cheesy and secondly the timeslot was a prime time graveyard. Queens should have been on streaming a La Prime or HBO Max and been more gritty. That’s the only way it would work. Shows like Abbott Elementary and The Wonder Years had excellent ratings and were renewed for second seasons. Best of luck to the ladies. They’re all talented and deserved better.

The concept wasn’t interesting. TV musicals are not it. And in comparison to all of the other content that’s out, this show was guaranteed to fail. We need original stories with intelligent writing and riveting plots.
