After decades of reporting Hot Topics, media maven Wendy Williams has now become one.
For, after making headlines in the lead-up to the end of her daytime talk show, the fallout that has followed has assured that the star has remained a fixture in the news cycle.
The latest drama centers around her finances and the situation has taken a shocking turn.
Full story below…
According to THR, Williams – who has publicly bemoaned the lack of access to her finances – has been placed under financial guardianship.
The development took place by way of an order made by a New York judge.
It means a financial guardian will oversee Williams’ finances until July. Per the report, a temporary guardian had been in place since March, when the judge agreed with her bank that it was necessary while the legal wrangle is ironed out.
So, how did the situation escalate?
Williams’ attorney La’Shawn Thomas asserts that the former shock jock requested her bank statements after suspecting misconduct by her financial advisor and sought to switch banks. A that required the statements she asked for.
Per the report, her bank denied the request and filed a petition for guardianship stating that Williams is an “incapacitated person” who is “victim of undue influence and financial exploitation.”
Speaking on the matter, Thomas said:
“Wendy doesn’t agree with a financial guardian being appointed. If it’s the court’s intention to have one appointed over her affairs for the long haul, she definitely isn’t going to accept that.”
It’s further claimed by Williams’ legal team that the bank denying her access saw her become at risk of defaulting on bills and causing financial strife. Williams is also on record saying that she believes that an advisor at the bank is lying about her being mentally unstable so as to prevent her access to her own money.
The news comes after the 57-year-old shared an Instagram video alleging that her former manager was attempting to be installed as a guardian over her.
It also arrives on the heels of Williams asserting she is set for a comeback and reports of a podcast deal worth a possible $100 million.
*********
Suffice to say, this is all sorts of a tangled situation. Time will tell how it all plays out.
Karma is that b****, NOT you 💯
Although she’s been cruel to so many others it’s hard to not feel sorry for her. Wish her better days but I hope she learns a lesson.
I am really confused as to why the bank thinks she is incapable of managing her own money. Are there any reports of her doing lavish spending? Frankly my concern is that if a bank can decide not to give a customer access to their funds for someone who probably has financial experts and lawyers, they can do it to anyone.
Give that woman her money. Goodness!
The money she made from HATE?
You hate for free. Why don’t you go and start a YouTube channel and monetize instead of pledging allegiance to TGJ under multiple account names? Start a family. I mean, do something! I bet you use your real email to receive notifications on those who reply to your comments, don’t you?
I feel a lot of compassion for her but it is ironic that this is happening to her after the way she treated Mariah during her breakdown.
Mariah too had just signed a $100Million deal and her family tried to take control of her finances by getting her locked up in Rehab.
Give her her hard earned money! It’s simple. The entire situations unfair and unnecessary. Something also seems like it’s not adding up.
The bank is literally just trying to keep her money at the bank. Why is no one investigating this???
Sounds like the bank just wants her u o keep money in there bank. I luv Wendy 💗 and wish her the best
Wendy has worked for all of her money. So because she wanted excess to her accounts and wanted to switch banks she needs a legal guardian over seeing her money that she worked for. Please make this make sense she should be able to spend her money however she wants.
I don’t trust banks. IMO, most are crooked as hell. If not already done so, Wendy needs to hire a top litigator and appeal the court’s decision. By now, she should have medical records to prove that she has sound judgment.
Wells Fargo has agreed to pay $3 billion to settle charges that the bank engaged in fraudulent sales practices for more than a decade. The company acknowledged collecting millions of dollars in fees for bank accounts, debit cards and other products that customers neither asked for nor needed.
Well if I had that type of money and was looking for a bank Wells Fargo wouldn’t be it. People who have money such as ms. Williams should pull all funds from the bank fast. Go somewhere else. I would never do business with them . Also Why would her 100mil dollar deal play a roll because quite frankly that money doesn’t have to be put in wells Fargo bank. If I was her male sure not one cent dime is deposited in there. Wells Fargo has overstepped their grounds and it is clear to see that all this came about due to some disgruntled financial agent at Wells Fargo getting back for being fired and accused of mis appropiating funds.
Wendy is fine. Free Wendy. She has been through much. She deserves to live her life as the independent woman she has displayed, since her divorce. Free Wendy . Why can’t she ask about what is legally hers, and has worked and earned it. Bunch of bs. Why must women ways suffer at the hands of wrongdoing people. It wouldn’t be handled in this manner if it were a male. Always double standards for women. She done nothing that any other human has done that has. Ee. .mistreated.
