Starring Michael B. Jordan, the film has now scored the biggest opening weekend for a sports film ever.
According to ‘The Hollywood Reporter,’ the movie earned $58.7 million at the domestic box office this weekend. Previously, the film was projected to earn $30 million, however, it exceeded it by nearly $29 million.
Overseas, the movie made a massive $41.8 million. So, in total, the film brought in a first-weekend global total of $100.4 million.
While nothing is set in stone yet, the film is on pace to become the highest-grossing movie in the series when it taps out around a projected $150 million.
