In a developing story, it’s being reported that Tyler Perry may be in the running to buy Black Entertainment Television – known more widely as BET.

THR reports that Paramount is “exploring a potential sale of a majority stake in its BET.”
That move in itself would be seismic given that it would encompass BET’s broader business portfolio – thus meaning any such sale would include BET, VH1, and the BET+ streaming service.
After breaking that story, a fresh update claims that Tyler Perry – who has been in a longtime partnership with BET and Paramount at large – is “in talks” to buy the majority stake.
Per the cited source, discussions are described as being “in the early stages” and there is no guarantee of a purchase.
Should all move forward, Paramount is expected to maintain a minority stake.
