A year after reiterating her plan to drop “one last album,” retire from music, and create a movie about her life (as we reported here), GRAMMY-nominated songbird Keyshia Cole is poised to keep at least one of those promises thanks to a newly-announced partnership with Lifetime.
More inside.
In what will mark her film debut, Cole is set to star in the forthcoming Lifetime biopic ‘Keyshia Cole: This is My Story.’
Much like the Toni Braxton, Wendy Williams, and Clark Sisters made-for-TV biographical flicks on the women’s network, Cole will have a direct hand in the movie’s production as she will also serve as one of its executive producers. What’s more, she will reportedly be creating new music for the production.
‘Story’ will not only chronicle Keyshia’s rise to stardom and illustrious career but also explore her relationship with her late birth mother, Frankie Lons (who died tragically in summer 2021).
“This is a story of a daughter’s love for her mother and although my heart remains broken from her untimely passing I am honored to be sharing it with the world,” Cole said in a statement before later sharing, “Playing the role of myself was a unique opportunity to re-live special moments in my life that also gave me the chance to process her loss in ways I did not expect. I miss her every day and even though she is not here, her presence was felt throughout this film,”
‘Story’ is slated to premiere June 24 exclusively on Lifetime.
This is going to be GOODT.
From her reality shows, we know Keyshia doesn’t sugarcoat or try to make things look good. This will do numbers.
Lifetime and WeTV have gotten very Black over the past decade….
