Amber Rose Reflects on Taylor Swift & Kanye West’s Infamous VMAs Moment: “Beyonce Deserved That Award” But “He Was Remorseful”

Taylor Swift isn’t the only one taking a trip down memory lane to revisit her beef with Kanye West.

Just last week the Pop diva grabbed headlines for her TIME’s Person of the Year interview in which she detailed the “psychologically” damaging experiences she faced as a result of interactions with Kanye and his former wife Kim Kardashian (which ultimately stems from the rapper-mogul infamously interrupting her VMA acceptance speech in 2009).

More recently, another of West’s exes – model-actress Amber Rose (who he was with at the time of the award show ceremony) – shared her thoughts on the 14-year-old incident after being quizzed by ‘ET.’

Hop inside to see what she said.

Chatting it up with resident anchor Deidre Behar recently, the 40-year-old dished about the launch of her Youtube channel, MUVA fashion line, dating, and so much more.

During the conversation, Behar mentioned that 2024 will mark 15 years since Kanye shocked the world with his interruption of Taylor Swift’s MTV VMA award acceptance speech to praise Beyonce‘s ‘I Am…Sasha Fierce’ hit ‘Single Ladies.’

“I love Taylor Swift,” Rose started before pivoting. “Was [Kanye] telling the truth? He was telling the truth. Beyonce deserved that award, but you can’t take it from somebody else. It wasn’t Taylor’s fault [that she received the award].”

Amber made clear that believing ‘Single Ladies’ was one of music history’s greatest music videos doesn’t make Swift any less deserving, however.

“[Taylor] essentially did deserve it,” she relayed.

Later in the convo, the model-actress detailed what happened off-camera – including Kanye being taken away by the show’s producers for a brief reprimand about the impromptu interjection.

Regardless of West’s outburst, Rose maintains he was “very remorseful” about the incident.

“He instantly felt bad because it wasn’t about Taylor at all. I think the media made it seem like he was picking on her and stuff but he wasn’t he was just standing up or Beyonce,” she said. “It was just an unfortunate situation.”

That’s not all she shared. Click PLAY on the clip above to see the interview in full.
