As the Shannon Sharpe-hosted ‘Club Shay Shay’ continues its rise in notoriety on the back of internet-breaking interviews like Katt Williams and Monique’s, so has increased criticism of the podcast.
Among the many headline-grabbing slams of the platform, those coming from Mike Epps seem to be ringing loudest as he took time during a recent standup gig to insinuate Sharpe was a closeted homosexual.
“That ni**a Shannon called me trying to do an interview,” the 53-year-old said to the crowd before calling the podcaster “Madea’s sister.” “I said ‘no Madea, I ain’t doing no interview with you’ – so you can sit across from me and look at my balls.”
Once the clip got to the desk of Sharpe, he offered a fiery clap back.
“When I see you, I’m going to see if you’re about that. I’m going to see if you want to say what you’ve been saying, getting off some jokes,” the football icon said before relaying, “Tell your little jokes, get your little laughs off, have fun. But, just don’t lie.”
That’s not all that was said.
After Sharpe hit back at Epps on the ‘Nightcap’ podcast by threatening to fight, ‘The Upshaws’ star upped the ante with his response by not only confirming he did message the former football star asking to be interviewed on ‘Club Shay Shay’ but also doubling down on his belief that Shannon is “zesty,” looks like a “milk dud,” and resembles the Tyler Perry character Madea.
“You was tryna get him to talk crazy about me, but he didn’t, okay,” Mike said. “Now, second of all, talking about pullin’ up on me — You gon be at the All-Star [game], I’m gon be at at the All-Star… and Imma see you, aight?”
Later in the short clip, the comic suggested he may have to resort to more drastic means of protecting himself if Shannon makes good on his threat.
“And Imma just let you know, I don’t be doing no fighting lately,” the ‘Friday‘ actor said. “So, you know it’s only one other option.”
For Sharpe, however, the “other option” appears to be less action and more conversation.
