Jonathan Majors may have thought his legal woes were behind him after he was convicted of misdemeanor reckless assault and harassment in December 2023, but now the award-winning actor is facing a slew of new accusations from the same reported victim: his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari.
In a lawsuit filed in New York federal court on Tuesday (March 19), Jabbari brought forth claims of battery, intentional infliction of emotional distress, assault, and malicious prosecution and defamation – all of which stem from Majors denying that he abused her leading up to and after his conviction.
According to documents, Grace says he subjected her to “pattern of pervasive domestic abuse that began in 2021 and extended through 2023.” In one instance, she alleges he “threw her against the hood of her car,” “held his hands around her neck,” threated to “kill her,” and then started hitting her head against the marble floor while strangling her.
She says she wanted to seek medical treatment at the time of the incident, but alleges she was dissuaded by Majors via text.
Beyond the detailing of multiple other alleged incidents of physical assault, Grace also says Majors’ post-conviction media tour caused her great emotional distress – namely his polarizing ABC News interview in which he likened current girlfriend, actress Meagan Good, to civil rights activist Coretta Scott King.
In said interview he claimed he was “completely innocent,” has “never laid [his] hands on a woman,” that he “did not assault her whatsoever,” and that he is “probably the victim” (according to the complaint).
“Majors’ intention was not only to cause many people to believe Jabbari was a liar but also to cause those people to lash out, harass, intimidate, and bully Jabbari. Majors also intended his defamatory statements to adversely affect Jabbari’s career,” the suit claims.
Moreover, Jabbari’s suit alleges she endured malicious prosecution after Majors filed a criminal complaint against her which she believed was a “truly desperate attempt to discredit the victim before trial.”
“Consistent with his pattern of intimidating Grace, Majors filed the knowingly false criminal complaint and immediately disseminated the news to national and international media outlets in an effort to use his fame to cause the public to lash out against Grace and inflict on Grace extreme emotional distress,” states the complaint.
Grace is seeking at least $75,000 plus punitive damages.
Majors will be sentenced in the criminal case on April 8; the charges carry a potential sentence of up to one year in prison.
