Kerry Washington Readies 'Wisteria Lane' - Desperate Housewives Reboot

Kerry Washington is readying a revival of ‘Desperate Housewives.’

Full story below…

According to Deadline, the star is set to produce ‘Wisteria Lane’ through her imprint Simpson Street, in collaboration with 20th Television. The latter absorbed ABC Signature (who produced the original show).

It has not yet been determined whether Washington will feature in the cast.

The project will be housed at Onyx Collective, which sees much of its output streamed on Hulu.

Written by Natalie Chaidez (who helmed ‘The Flight Attendant’), ‘Wisteria Lane’ is billed as a fun, sexy, darkly comedic soap/mystery. Set among a group of five very different friends and sometimes frenemies who all live on a picture-perfect cul de sac called Wisteria Lane. On the surface, all the Wisteria neighbors are living the dream: beautiful homes, gorgeous families, and shiny SUVs in the driveway. However, behind those white-picket fences and smiling Insta posts are…secrets aplenty.

The show anchors itself in the legacy of ‘Desperate Housewives,’ which starred Teri Hatcher, Eva Longoria, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Nicollette Sheridan. For eight seasons, the highs and lows of their layered lives played out on the fictional street called Wisteria Lane.

Marc Cherry, who created and executive produced the beloved original show, is not presently part of the new project, but sources say he is aware of it and could onboard in some capacity later.

‘Wisteria Lane’ wouldn’t be the first time thst the ‘Desperate Housewives’ landscape has been expanded.

Cherry-helmed spin-off ‘Devious Maids’ was lined up as a successor of sorts at ABC and even saw key cast featured in climatic episode of ‘Housewives.’ However, the network did not move ahead with the show. Instead, it found a home at Lifetime where it aired for four seasons.

We’re buzzed about ‘Wisteria Lane.’ Are you?

Love the idea of a new show within the ‘Desperate’ universe and trust Kerry’s vision but having someone from The Flight Attendant makes me worried cause that show started great then took a fast nosedive
