Caught leaving the New York studio, the broadcast icon told TMZ she was hearing a very different story behind the scenes, one where she’s thriving and deeply appreciated. And the love is mutual.
While she didn’t completely rule out a future move, King insists the on-air gossip doesn’t align with internal vibes. With her contract running through May 2026, she’s staying focused on the job she’s held down since 2012.

Variety initially reported she might be stepping into a new role next year, but CBS shut that narrative down fast, stating:
“There have been no discussions with Gayle about her contract that runs through May 2026. She’s a truly valued part of CBS and we look forward to engaging with her about the future.”
