‘Girls Trip 2’ is finally setting sail on its journey to the big screen.
The 2017 comedy, anchored by Queen Latifah, Jada Pinkett Smith, Regina Hall, and Tiffany Haddish, delivered dynamite at the global box office. Indeed, the film blew past expectations to amass $140 million (on a $20 million budget).
Naturally, excitement has reached fever pitch for a follow-up.
And now, after almost a decade of speculation, there is confirmation of shooting starting.

Speaking with PEOPLE, Haddish was quizzed about a ‘Girls Trip’ sequel. She shared:
“I don’t know exactly where we’re going, but I know it’s somewhere exotic and somewhere we don’t normally go, but we should go as much as possible. That’s what I do know. We’re supposed to start shooting this summer.”
Her words echo sentiments shared by director Will Packer.
Talking at the AfroFuture Festival in Ghana, the filmmaker revealed:
“We actually are looking at doing an exotic locale — I can’t reveal it right now, but I do have a script for the first time.”
Last month, Hall confirmed that the wheels were in motion during an appearance on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live:
We’re excited! Are you?

That’s exciting
Mmm hmmm. Black women are hilarious clowns 🤡. We love to see them getting wild like animals. I heard Rihanna is gonna make a cameo. Rihanna is always ahead of its time. She even did country before Beyonce, see Four Five Seconds 💅🏼
Half the cast’s reputation is shot! If anything, lotsa peeps will watch ONLY to hate. The plot was juvenile the 1st time around, a more mature plot for the sequel would be predictable film sewercide.
