Uncle Joe and his nephew B.J. are taking a trip down Black history lane in the latest film, ‘Tyler Perry’s Joe College Road Trip.’
In our exclusive interview with That Grape Juice, Jermaine Harris, who plays B.J., opened up about the mix of excitement and nerves he felt when he learned he would be filming a one-on-one project with Tyler Perry, who reprises his roles as Joe and Madea in the film.
Harris shared that stepping into the role pushed him creatively.
The movie’s breakthrough is B.J.’s decision to attend a PWI or an HBCU after graduation, sparking a journey between uncle and nephew. Along the way, the film spotlights identity, legacy, and what it truly means to be young and Black in today’s world.
During our conversation, Harris emphasized a message that resonates beyond the screen: being Black isn’t a crutch, it’s an honor. The film leans into that truth, reminding audiences to know their history in every way.

OMG,.another boring thread
I wont be seeing this or any Tyler Perry film, but I wish this man success, and I hope he is wise enough to not go to a Tyler’s house at night to discuss “business.”
