Regina Hall is finally addressing the question fans have been asking for years: What is really going on with a ‘Girls Trip’ sequel?
The actress offered a candid update during a recent appearance on the Today Show‘s Glass Half Full podcast, and while hope is still alive, it is clear the road to a follow-up is far from smooth.

Speaking openly about the long-discussed sequel, the 55-year-old made it plain that progress has been slower than many expected.
“Yes, I have. I mean, that’s what I’ve been hearing (that there’s going to be a sequel), but I haven’t read it. I don’t have sequel (news). But (ultimately) there’s not going to be a sequel until the script is right and we haven’t gotten that yet.”
She continued by stressing that the creative foundation simply is not there yet.
“They have not gotten a script that’s right. I think when our producers feel like the script is right, then they will. Then they will, then we will read it.”
And for Hall, the bar is sky-high.
“It’s got to be funny. It’s got to be heartfelt. It’s got to be. Something audiences want but don’t expect. You got to have a surprise element. It’s got to be a lot of things, Greg. It’s got to be a lot of things.”
She also made it clear that simply revisiting the original magic is not enough.
“With sequels…you don’t want to do it again if it’s not… if you don’t believe it’s good.”
Digging deeper, the Hollywood favorite reflected on why sequels often struggle to live up to expectations.
“I would probably say, yeah, a lot of times that’s the case. Probably because there’s more fear, more pressure, more interference from the studios. They want to make sure that they’re, you know what I mean? I think there are a lot more hands.”
Continuing, she shared:
“There’s a lot more weight on it. You’re increasing the salaries, you’re increasing the budget. People have a lot more weight on the need for it to do good, and there’s nothing that’s existing prior to it that you’re trying to compare it to or live up to or surpass. So I just think the weight is different.”
For now, it looks like fans will need to keep holding tight. Because if Ms. Hall has her way, ‘Girls Trip 2′ will only happen when it truly delivers.

Truth is: Jada & Tiffany’s rep is BAD!
One’s an admitted foster kid fcuker,
the other an alleged kid co-twiddler.
Their deeds appeal to the industry,
but it takes careful PR strategizing to
make ’em appeal to the public again.
Laughter win sheeple over errytime!
Completely agree! They’ll find a way to market it sooner of later, but I won’t be one of the sheeple viewing it! Gotta draw the line somewhere.
Just do the movie already! This would be good Tiffany and Jada they need the good publicity.
