Since it was first handed out in 1959, the Best Audio Book, Narration, and Storytelling Recording GRAMMY (previously known as Best Spoken Word Album) has celebrated the audio versions of some of modern history’s best books and authors.

Before the show’s 66th annual ceremony, only 4 people could boast having earned multiple wins in the category. That changed Sunday night (February 4) thanks to former First Lady Michelle Obama‘s 2022 best-seller ‘The Light We Carry.’

A hook-up culture expert finds herself unexpectedly playing the dating game in Netflix’s forthcoming romantic comedy ‘Players.’

Starring Gina Rodriguez, the film tells the story of a sportswriter whose expertise in one-night stands sees her falling for one of New York City’s most eligible bachelors – forcing her to rethink if “hitting and quitting” is truly the desire of her heart.

‘Real Housewives of Potomac’ star Candiace Dillard has quietly been battling a defamation lawsuit brought against her by Michael Darby – the ex of castmate Ashley Darby.

And it was to the tune of $2 Million. Of that sum, $1 million was for compensatory damages and the other $1 million was for punitive damages.

The restauranteur/entrepreneur claimed the outspoken star’s remarks about his sex life in a season 7 episode were defamatory, borne out of hate, and caused the 64-year-old “public scorn, hatred, humiliation, ridicule, contempt and/or embarrassment.”

However, the judge did not agree.

Donald Glover continues to make his presence felt across a multitude of mediums – with his latest offering being a refreshed take on ‘Mr. & Mrs Smith.’

Returning to screens on Amazon’s Prime Video, its newest incarnation reimagines the narrative as a series.

Starring and produced by Glover (who appears alongside Maya Erskine), the show follows a faux couple who were paired together by a spy agency to enter an undercover marriage. What follows throughout the 8-episode series is a high-octane combination of romance and drama.

Finally! After seeing their previous seasons toast the indelible and historical marks made by Albert Einstein, Pablo Picasso, and Aretha Franklin to critical acclaim, the long-awaited return of National Geographic’s anthology series, ‘Genius,’ comes to a close this week with the premiere of ‘Genius: MLK/X.’

Dedicated to the legacies of Martin Luther King and Malcolm X, the eight-episode season will chronicle the Civil Rights icons from their respective teenage years to their rises to fame as globally recognized leaders who – despite having opposing views – both fought the common enemy of oppression and White supremacy.

Drawing parallels in their unique journeys, ‘MLK/X’ – which stars Kelvin Harrison Jr., Aaron Pierre, Weruche Opia, Jayme Lawson, and more – will also examine their respective assassinations in ways never-before seen on TV.

Issa Rae is fed up.

Widely hailed as a trailblazer, the budding mogul adapted her internet-born ‘Awkward Black Girl’ show into the TV phenomenon ‘Insecure’– serving as the lead star, writer, and producer of both titles.

In the time since the latter wrapped, Rae has continued to charge forward – nabbing big roles in Hollywood and, perhaps most crucially, expanding her creative output by way of helming new shows such as ‘A Black Lady Sketch Show’ and ‘Rap Sh*t.’

However, a mere matter of weeks after the Max show was canceled after just two seasons (and months after ‘Sketch Show’ suffered a similar fate), the 39-year-old has poured out her frustrations about the climate that Black-led shows find themselves. And she’s opened up about the moves she’s eyeing to combat it.
