Scribbled in history books for some good and not-so-good reasons, 2016 brought with it some of modern music’s most memorable moments.
As the year draws to a close, TGJ is reflecting on 31 moments that rocked – and to some degree shaped – the Urban and Pop musical landscape as we know it.
Now, we reflect on how the year’s most anticipated film – Nate Parker’s ‘Birth of a Nation’ – became one of the year’s biggest flops:
It seems VH1 made the right move by opting to place Rita Ora and not Karrueche Tran at the helm of ‘America’s Next Top Model‘s relaunch.
For, after seeing its ratings slip and slide at The CW, the show’s revamped version has picked up its highest-ratings in five years.

It looks like Mariah Carey may share more with Christina Milian than an ex in Nick Cannon.
Because, just like the singer’s 2004 hit, the ratings of her new E! “docu-series” are dipping it low.

I think it’s pretty safe to say we know at least one person who was none-too-pleased with today’s Golden Globe nominations’ announcement.
While the likes of Justin Timberlake, Donald Glover, and more celebrate their nods, 50 Cent – who has never been one to mince words when it comes to STARZ hit show ‘Power’ (which he produces) – made his disdain for the academy well known when he eloquently suggested they “suck a d**k.”

The nominations for the 2017 Golden Globe Awards have been announced – and it’s good news for the likes of Viola Davis, Denzel Washington, Issae Rae, and Kerry Washington.
As some of Hollywood’s leading names, they have racked up noms for their efforts in titles including ‘Fences,’ ‘Insecure,’ and ‘Confirmation.’

Two of Hollywood’s most towering talents stepped in style last night at the 22nd Annual Critics Choice Awards at the Barker Hangar in LA.
It marks the first major appearance by ‘Scandal’ star Washington since the birth of her second child last month. Needless to say the snapback is real.
Her Shondaland sister Davis also turned heads and earned an accolade in the process.
She bagged ‘Best Supporting Actress’ for her role in Oscar favorite ‘Fences.’
Set to open to the public on Christmas Day, the film’s early slayage certainly bodes well for the star and her co-star Denzel Washington heading into award season.

This season on ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta,’ viewers will have seen Phaedra Parks in repair mode following her split from Apollo Nida.
Yet, while it may seem like the lawyer/mortician is moving on after filing for divorce, it’s Nida who’s writing his new life chapter at the speed of light. This despite being in prison for fraud.
See, while the pair’s divorce narrative plays out on screen, their union has officially been dissolved recently – freeing Nida to get engaged to Sherien Lufti.
Little is known about the “mystery woman” other than the fact she lives close to the New Jersey jail where he’s incarcerated. And…that she will appear on an upcoming episode of the ‘Housewives.’
Now, just hours before the latest episode airs, a portrait of the couple in prison (taken last month) has surfaced.
