The highly anticipated trailer for the upcoming film adaptation of ‘The Color Purple’ has been unwrapped.

Based on the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical, which itself was an adaptation of Alice Walker’s 1982 Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, the latest incarnation of the story is a musical movie led by Fantasia.

The multi-hyphenate talent is joined by a stellar cast that includes Danielle Brooks, Taraji P. Henson, H.E.R, Halle Bailey, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, Aunjanue Ellis, Jon Batiste, and Ciara.

With a December 25 US theatrical release set, for the Blitz Bazawule production, Warner Bros has unlocked the first look at the eagerly awaited film – which tells the tale of sisters with an unshakeable bond.

Set to premiere on June 23, the film is directed by Numa Perrier and is based on the novel of the same name by Tia Williams.

Get ready for ‘The Blackening’!

Directed by Tim Story and co-written by Tracy Oliver (who helmed ‘Girls Trip’ and ‘Harlem’), the hysterical horror movie follows a group of Black friends who head out on a Juneteenth weekend getaway.

However, they quickly find themselves trapped in a remote cabin with a twisted killer. A chaotic game ensues…only for them to discover that much more than a game is at play.

Central to the edgy flick is the question: “if the entire cast of a horror movie is Black, who becomes the first victim?”

Ahead of its June 16 theatrical release, a fresh trailer for the film – which stars Grace Byers, Jermaine Fowler, Melvin Gregg, X Mayo, Dewayne Perkins, Antoinette Robertson, Sinqua Walls, Jay Pharoah, and Yvonne Orji – has been unleashed.

20 years after comedy legend Eddie Murphy first scared up nearly $200 million at the box office with ‘Haunted Mansion,’ Disney has assembled a star-studded cast are bringing the spookfest back to life via a 2023 reimagining.

Based on the theme park attraction of the same name, the fright-filled ‘Haunted Mansion’ film follows a mother (Rosario Dawson) and son (Chase W. Dillon) who find that their home is haunted and “enlist a motley crew of so-called spiritual experts to help rid their home of supernatural squatters.”

Directed by Justin Simien, the movie also stars LaKeith Stanfield, Dan Levy, Jamie Lee Curtis, Hasan Minhaj, Jared Leto, Owen Wilson, Tiffany Haddish, Danny DeVito, and more.

Jamie Foxx is on the mend.

As reported, the actor was hospitalized last month after suffering a “medical complication” on the set of his latest movie.

In the time since, conflicting reports have surfaced about Foxx’s health – ranging from optimistic to claims that his family were “preparing for the worst.”

Now, the star’s daughter Corrinne Foxx has offered an update.

As the live action edition of Disney’s classic ‘Little Mermaid’ swims toward its highly anticipated May 26 arrival in theaters, expect to see much of its GRAMMY-nominated star Halle Bailey across your screens.

Her latest appearance comes courtesy of Monday’s world premiere of the film (May 8) in Los Angeles via the apt blue carpet.

Capturing the magic of Princess Ariel, Halle made a big splash in a custom, Valdrin Sahiti fishtail dress while ‘Mermaid’ co-stars Melissa McCarthy, Javier Bardem, Awkwafina, and more turned heads in their designer duds.

Also of note was Halle’s R&B superstar sister Chloe, who stunned in a sultry yellow gown while GRAMMY-nominated rapper Offset – joined by his beautiful daughters – dropped jaws with his Michael Jackson-inspired ensemble.
