Actress Laverne Cox and director/filmmaker Ava Duvernay are breaking respective new grounds on television with two new power moves to CBS.

While the Emmy-nominated actress, best known for her role on Netflix’s ‘Orange is the New Black,’ is set to be part of the “first series to feature a regular trans-character portrayed by a trans-actor on a prime-time show” on CBS, Duvernay is reporting a double win after being tapped to direct a series for the major network as well as an all new drama for OWN.

Forget Friday’s, it appears all the action takes place Thursday nights on ABC.

For, joining the established hits that are ‘Scandal’ and ‘Greys Anatomy’ is Shonda Rhimes’ new freshman series ‘How To Get Away With Murder’.

The legal drama, which stars Viola Davis, follows a group of ambitious law students and their brilliant criminal defence professor; the group become involved in a twisted murder plot that promises to change the course of their lives.

FOX has struck TV gold with its new hit series ‘Empire,’ as evidenced by yet another ratings spike from Wednesday night’s episode.

A favourite on the current season of ‘Celebrity Apprentice’, the actress hit the daytime talker to chat about her decision to leave the show on the cusp of its finale.

Naturally, her epic boardroom showdown with ‘Real Housewives Of Atlanta’ star Kenya Moore was brought up – and Fox didn’t hold back.

The ‘Kill Bill’ beauty also responded to Moore’s comments about her alleged plastic surgery.
