As the age old adage goes, the show must go on and for FOX talker ‘The Real’ that’s exactly what’s happening.
Yesterday brought with it news Tamar Braxton had “mutually agreed” to part ways with the series on which she’d served as an anchor panelist since its 2013 launch.
Word on the curb is that she was fired, but at this junction it’s almost inconsequential. She won’t be back.
Given that the show remains a top priority for its network, it got us wondering: who could be a suitable replacement?
Say what folk will about Tamar, but it’s undeniable that she brought a certain spark that – whether loved or loathed – provoked a reaction.
Here are five names we feel could do the same with their own unique twist…
Nene Leakes
Effortlessly outspoken, NeNe Leakes has proven herself a compelling watch on ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta’ and beyond. Sure, she skews a little older than ‘The Real’s “youth” geared demo, but her feisty attitude, opinionated nature and Gif-able expressions make her a worthy Tamar successor – if that’s what producers are going for.
If there’s one issue preventing our full endorsement, it’s NeNe’s arguable inability to get along with a “bunch of girls.” Still, we imagine it’s nothing the right check wouldn’t smooth out.
Brandy
Boasting a broad portfolio beyond her singing credentials, B-Rocka would be an awesome choice. She’s sassy, fun, and an eloquent speaker. Like Tamar, she brings a sizeable fanbase of her own and, more so than Tamar, has a name that is instantly recognisable to the casual viewer.
Ms. Norwood could also leverage the platform towards her music; which though obviously beneficial to her, could actually boost the show too (see: live performances, premieres, and the like).
The only potential block is that she’s shooting a talk-show pilot of her own for the same network. That said, anything could happen!
Michelle Williams
Similar to Brandy, Ms. Williams has a colorful personality which translates well on TV.
She has a natural warmth, a fresh perspective, is relatable, and is ever the professional.
What’s more, it’d be a great means of introducing the masses to the “real” Michelle. Yes, folk know her by way of Destiny’s Child, but she has layers and it would awesome to see them unfold on the show. Much in the way it has for all its panelists over the last three years.
Porsha Williams
This is somewhat of a wildcard, as Porsha’s speaking voice and perceived ditziness are an acquired taste.
However, folk shouldn’t minimize the fact this Georgia peach has held a legitimate hosting role on Dish Nation radio. And with that gig being on a high-rated ensemble show, she definitely has the credentials to hold her own with the ladies of ‘The Real.’
Some may be critical of her Reality beginnings, but it actually helps endear her to the show’s largely female audience. On ‘The Real Housewives Of Atlanta,’ we’ve seen her go from married, to divorcing, to picking herself up and hitting the dating scene again. She’s also shared her worries about fertility. All narratives she’s been very open about and, more importantly, topics millions can relate to.
For what it’s worth, she also has a large social media following, which could translate into additional viewers.
Vivica A. Fox
‘The Real’ positions itself the hipper alternative to ‘The View.’ Hence, at 51, some may argue that Aunt Viv may not be the “realest” fit.
We emphatically disagree, though! She’s fierce, fabulous, and TV gold. She’s brings the right balance of regal and ratchet and, as evidenced by her spar with ex 50 Cent last year, isn’t afraid of “going there.”
She is an alpha character which, when paired with her age (in comparison to the show’s younger co-hosts), means she’d perhaps be a better fit for the anchor role Loni Love presently occupies. Nonetheless, she’d be a welcome addition in any capacity.

Ciara did good when she was a guest co-host on Kelly and Michael. They bought her back twice. She and Michael had great chemistry. Ciara has it in her. But for The Real, She doesn’t have the personality that she would need to fill Tamar’s shoes. Plus Ciara is getting married soon and she just signed a lucrative contract with IMG Models. I want her to focus on this phase in her career.

Okay TGJ theses ladies are excellent suggestion of recommendations. I love each one but idk the show for some reason won’t last without Tamar but hey I may be proven wrong.
Let be real some of you give Tamar too much credit.. Lol her attitude maybe good for reality TV but not talk show. No one gives up good, they let her go because they were not gaining much from she being their…anyone can do ratchet. Money talks and they were losing because of her attitude.
I don’t like any of the options for a replacement, but anything is better than Tamar… I always felt like she didn’t belong there, too ghetto. If I was to choose one woulds be vivica she has more experience, but my personal choice is Taraji or Queen Latifah, I think they would be real down to earth personalities.
While I like all of the other girls, it won’t be right without Tamar. I wouldn’t add a replacement.
Wow! I agree with Porsha or Vivica being great options. Of course Brandy would make a great and choice along with the others but I want Brandy to focus on her music. That’s why I didn’t say her first.
I think Shanola Hampton (38) would be another name to consider. Best known for her work on Shameless, I believe Shanola can strike the right balance between being over the top and professional. She has even co-hosted with the girls atleast twice on the show already. Imo, they all had goid chemistry albeit just those few shows.
I would like to see Shanola co-host. She is funny and down to earth. Would attract different types of viewers.
Ciara would good for Tamera’s replacement. They need someone more outspoken like Tami Roman

Laverne C** would be really good. Brandy would be great, so would Ciara or Michelle Williams. No to Nene and Porsha, I’m sorry. I love Tamar but we don’t need another loud, ghetto Balck chick on national TV. My money’s on Vivica Fox, she’d be great, she keeps it classy and tasteful. Other names that’d make great cohosts are Wendy Raquel Robinson, Golden Brooks, Holly Robinson Peete, Letoya Luckett, Lisa Raye McCoy, Robin Givens or Kim Fields… They’ll need someone with a strong resume that’ll bring in viewers and who’s opinion, whether people agree with them or not, will keep people interested. My top picks are Vivica Fox, Michelle Williams or Holly Robinson Peete

Why is it every time someone needs to be replaced, Nene or some other loud mouth housewife is brought up? House wives like Nene and Porsha are better suited where they are. Last thing they need is a fight breaking out, and Porsha is notorious for that. Nene also has one under her belt, besides all she would do is over talk the next co-host.
A replacement should be a professional who has studied and attained an education in journalism and correspondence. My opinion.

I so agree that we need someone in there that is educated and know how to speak well because I’ve noticed that some of the English spoken on the show is really bad and l’m not talking about tamara, jeannie or adrianne. I agree with LeToya Luckett. She is young and will keep it real and she has a stable fan base. She can promote her music and acting gig’s.
LeToya has a great personality, but I think she’s a little too booked for a talk show.
I think that we have to take a look at those who have already co-hosted and did great.. With that being said Brandy is a NO, when she was on the panel she was MUTE and didn’t fit in at all to the group dynamic. Nene was too damn much…
Now Michelle would be nice.. But I’m definetly rooting for Porsha. She’s younger, cute and has personality and sass!
And y’all keep saying the ratings will tank the ratings were JUST FINE when Tamar took her medical leave for 2-3 months so it will be just fine when she leaves again. She’s always gone missing damn near one episode a week so it won’t be much different

LeToya is a good shout. Very well spoken, fun, about business, used to a group setting and her warmth will gravitate audiences to her. Like Porsha option also.
I love all these ladies but..; Tamar Braxton’s personality os just perfect for TV she’s, sassy, with a touch of ratchet, classy at the same time as she always looks beat, and over confident, but still loveable with a lot of heart and compassion she just has so many elements that make her unique! NeNe leaks is fun but she;s to rude, Michelle and Brandy are great hosts but they are no Tamar, they would be replacements for Tamara or Jeanie. I think the only person I could see still adding jokes is T Boz from TLC again fearless in her opinion and has a lot of heart at the same time

Honestly, I am such a huge fan of Tamar, so they really need someone is funny and blunt. I am all for Vivica Fox or Tisha Campbell. Someone who can give the comedic timing who isn’t actually a comedian. Tamar, Adrienne, and Tamera are who I come for to see what new hair and outfit they have on, so this person also needs to be styled to the MAX.
I love Brandy, but do y’all remember how quiet she was on the show? Michelle is nice, but I didn’t tune in for her when she was on.
You also have to remember.. This show is not The View or the Talk. You’re not going to bring on ridiculously popular people (aint no way laverne c** would ever host this show.)
I’ll be perfectly honest with you. They could get rid of Loni and Jeannie and I would be cool. Outside of Loni’s secret maternal nature, and Jeannies mom impressions (hilarious btw), they don’t do anything for me. Tamera is the epitome of class, and is gorgeous (best hair on the show every time). Adrienne is beautiful, and has the best single ladies view point.
I want a real queen! Like a miss Lawrence or even bevy smith! The thing about the women you guys named they do a lot of BG stuff like not keep it real with people they work with, they do stuff for tv and that cause drama! One thingnincannsay about Tamar if she dorm like what you said she will let you no! I read that the reason Tamar got cut was because of complaints from everyone except Tamera and that they was a costing issue and Tamar was getting two checks, one for her and one for Vince who is an executive producer, so both things combined she had to go. So, if this is the case then they would have to find somebody cheaper. Personally, backstabbing never goes well so anyone entering now will be cautious of theses heifers and viewers don’t really trust people who are deceitful.
In regards to the people mentioned. If they didn’t like Tamar then they won’t want Nene, Porsha, Vivica is a bit too old and Brandy and Michelle are not really a fit.

I really love the idea of Wendy Raquel Robinson, she is the perfect amount of talent and personality. She has been on TV since the 90s, loved by many, known by many, and can be loud and messy when need be.
Aside from seeing people suggest her the 1st person who came to mind who really stood out to me and fit with the show when they and guests was Tisha Camplell Martin. She was mature, funny, and again can be loud and messy when need be. Not to mention again she has been on TV and loved by many since the 90s.

Tamar missed like 3 months when she was sick. The show did just fine without her.
The show is renewed till 2018 (2 more seasons). So unless the ratings tank, they will last thru season 3 and into 4. Tamar was not the show, and as people keep saying the show went on just fine without her. Also if Tamar fans won’t buy her music what makes you think the turned out in droves to watch her on the show (mind you a show she was absent from heavily)!??

Megan Good would be GOOD if they wanted a more non-loud, messy person route. Kandi’s voice is too annoying for me to want to even listen to or hear daily. She should stick to songwriting TBH.

The others named above are all great. But, Martin and Chili both possess that stage presence of versatility.
I think Khloe Kardashian would be PERFECT. However, with Adrian and Rob’s past, that may not work out. And I don’t know why everyone is trying to suggest people who are alike to Tamar. I mean, hello, they got rid of her for a reason. They’re not going to fill in her spot with someone just like her. Duh.
