Headlining the AT&T Pregame concert (February 16), the 23-year-old paid homage to fallen basketball legend Kobe Bryant by donning a refashioned version of his Lakers jersey.

After a nearly five-year wait, devoted fans of Justin Bieber – affectionately called ‘Beliebers’ – finally got their hands on a new body of work from the former teen heartthrob.

Christened ‘Changes,’ the effort – which follows 2015’s chart-topping ‘Purpose’ – comes as his fifth studio album and has been promoted by the release of two singles (‘Yummy’ and the Quavo-assisted ‘Intentions’), a Youtube documentary, and a number of live performances on late night TV.

Released Valentine’s Day 2020, the project hopped to the top of the iTunes sales tally just hours after its debut – a feat mirrored on real-time Spotify and Amazon charts.  With two days of commercial performance tracking in its rear view, industry analysts have unveiled their first week sales prediction for the February 14th-released set.

Queen of Funk Chaka Khan royally showed up and out at her hometown of Chicago’s United Center when she took to the 2020 NBA All-Star Game to deliver a rousing rendition of the U.S. national anthem (February 16).

Her a capella performance, which followed the tear-jerking Kobe Bryant tribute delivered by Academy and Grammy Award-winning diva Jennifer Hudson (click here to watch), didn’t exactly score the unanimous praise of Hudson’s showing as Khan’s twist on the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ was met with mixed results.

While some took to social media to salute the legendary songstress (known for a career of flexing soaring vocals), others did not appreciate her gospel-inspired take on the historic tune.

Jennifer Hudson blew the roof off of Chicago’s United Center just moments ago when she kicked off the 2020 NBA All-Star game with a stunning performance of Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway‘s 1972 hit, ‘For All We Know.’

Hudson, a native of the Windy City, was undoubtedly a fitting pick for the showing and used it to tribute fallen NBA star Kobe Bryant.

As the world (im)patiently waits for her musical return, we take it back to her more active days: this week’s selection is ‘What’s My Name?’

Rolled out as the second single from Rih’s fifth studio album ‘Loud,’ the track was released in 2010. Helmed by a musical dream team, comprising of production duo Stargate and wordsmith Ester Dean, it was the first of many collaborations between the Bajan belle and Canadian titan – and rumored love interest – Drake.

As has been the case with most of RiRi’s releases in the early 2010’s, this was a huge hit. Uniquely, it reached the #1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 before the parent album’s lead single ‘Only Girl (In The World)’ did a few weeks later. It was also a chart topper in the UK and managed to peak inside the Top 5 in Canada and Norway.

The music video for the cut was directed by Philip Andelman and Raam Kapoor. Though select interior shots were filmed in Mumbai, the bulk of the action takes place on the Lower East Side of New York City.

In all its pedestrian glory, it follows the singer as she makes her way to a bonfire party, with a small detour at the local convenient store where Drizzy awaits. Sporting the era’s signature red hair-do, she glowed as she strut down the streets of Manhattan with style and elegance.

Funny what a 10 year difference can make. Back then, the consensus what Rihanna was releasing too much music too soon. Now the world at large is singing a whole other tune.

We’re pretty sure a successful comeback is on the cards for Ms. Fenty. Still, we seriously hope that by the time she is ready to unleash her next musical offering, it will be something cool, fresh and edgy like the material on her last project ‘ANTI’ but also instant and catchy a la ‘What’s My Name?’ and other songs in that lane.

Rih, we’re ready.

Peaking at #2 in late January, the song’s been a mainstay in the Billboard Hot 100’s top 5 since its arrival.  Now, in a bid to push ‘Good’ to the tally’s summit, he’s enlisted the help of fellow Hip Hop hitmakers Lil Baby and DaBaby.

Instead, he’s mounting a major media push. One which landed him on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.’

Migos nucleus Quavo joined JB for a performance of ‘Intentions’ – the latest single from the ‘Yummy’-led project.
