tgj the weeknd #1 billboard chart check

If you had a feeling The Weeknd‘s latest hit ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ was set to ascend to #1 on the Hot 100 this week, you were right!

Dethroning longtime chart champion ‘Cheerleader’ by OMI, ‘Feel’ – found aboard his forthcoming project ‘Beauty Behind the Madness’ (Aug. 28th) – comes as the first chart-topper of his career (after a slew of consecutive top 10s).

As he celebrates, we trust his ‘Trust Issues’ co-star Drake is doing the same.  For, in addition to notching the year’s first platinum plaque, his Meek Mill diss ‘Back To Back’ (which officially debuted on the singles chart this week at #21) sees the Canadian rapper nab his 91st Hot 100 hit!

The feat earned him a distinct honor. See it and this week’s full chart check below:

British bred songbird Leona Lewis takes vocal flight on new single ‘Thunder’ – the video for which hatched moments ago.

The uplifting number – which is the lead release from The X Factor alum’s Def Jam debut ‘I Am’ – has been making major movements on Adult Contemporary radio Stateside.

And, after watching the visual, it would appear AC is the route the singer is steering in this go round – both musically and visually. A smart move, we must say.

They were touted as the second coming of the Pussycat Dolls.

Alas, as fans of the hit series ‘Pussycat Dolls Presents: Girlicious’ will know, Girlicious failed to soar to heights reached by Nicole & company.

Fortunately, their demise gave birth to the career of group member Chrystina Sayers who has returned to the scene as a solo act.

How she marks her arrival? By announcing the release of a new EP which features the numbers ‘Blame You’ & ‘Feel Lit’ penned and produced by the singer, Kareem James, Jordan Lewis and David Asante.

For many, messy best defines the disaster that has been Rihanna‘s eighth album campaign.

Singles have been flying out left and right, with few sticking commercially and fewer making an impact (pop)culturally.

And yet, based on the model’s endless array of holidays, it would appear the 27-year-old is unfazed.

Could it be because she’s readying a major resurgence next month?

Find out why that’s the opinion of some after the jump…

Queen Bey’s spread – which has been unwrapped in its HQ glory – serves as her fourth for the fashion bible, yet is perhaps most notable because it sees her make history in the process.

Check out Beyonce!

The superstar singer wows a-front of Vogue magazine’s September 2015 issue.

Tag-lined the “the art of global domination,” the cover is believed to precede the imminent roll-out of new material from the 21-time Grammy winner.

Another day, another Jordin Sparks jam.

With the August 21st release of the singer’s ‘Right Here Right Now’ album strutting nearer, the American Idol alum is allowing fans to sip on the LP’s new songs.

Next up is the bouncy ‘Boyz In The Hood.’

The piano-driven number is perhaps our favourite cut from the project yet, not so much for its subject matter or lyrics – but the production is all sorts of infectious.
