One or the other.
When it comes to acknowledging one’s sexuality and embracing one’s power, women are oft encouraged to choose one or the other- a choice rooted in the idea that an empowered woman must be an asexual one.
An idea, that believes a woman’s sexuality is only ever relevant when used to attract and appease men, rendering any woman who dares to embrace her desire for male ‘company’ weak…docile…’a whore.’
So, it should come as no surprise that Pop superstar Beyonce finds herself on the receiving end of such criticism today, following the unveiling of her brand new visual album, jam packed with a collection of steamy videos that’s set some pulses racing and many a tongue wagging this week.
