Macy’s 2013 ‘4th of July’ Firework Spectacular was chock full of star power with the likes of Cher, Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, and Pitbull all taking the stage.  However, it was the performance of headliner/Pop icon Mariah Carey that seemed to be the night’s most anticipated event.

Lending electric showings of her latest Miguel-assisted hit ‘Beautiful’, ‘America The Beautiful’, and ‘Hero’, the performances come as her first live act since her backing track backlash at a BET Awards outing days ago.

Does Mariah let her multioctave range shine through this time?  Or did she enlist her trusty pre-recording for a flawless redo?

It seems Nicki Minaj isn’t the only chart staple tuned in VH1’s ‘Love & Hip Hop Atlanta’ every Monday night.

That’s right, for minutes after Pop Prince Chris Brown took to Twitter to name Rihanna as one of the many collaborators on his brand new album ‘X‘, the ‘Music of the Sun’ stunner made her way to Kevin Systrom‘s Instagram to launch a scathing attack on a ‘potential’ duet, quoting the show’s leading lady Joseline Hernandez.

Eleven years after beating the authorities to the border, Beyonce & Jay Z (or Bonnie & Clyde) reunite for ‘Part II (On The Run)’, the sequel to the aforementioned release.

One of the many jams on Jay’s ‘Magna Carta Holy Grail’, the genius of this cut has us hoping Bey‘s fifth studio album will see her take on a broader range of subjects, even stepping into new characters as you’ll find she does below.

After giving it about 30 or so spins, we’d say that this is the one number you have to listen to if you playing nothing else on ‘Carta’.

For almost too long, now, Ashanti‘s fifth studio album ‘Braveheart’ has been “coming soon”.

Indeed, preceded by a slew of singles, the project’s release date has almost become a myth.

Still, her fans fervently await the LP which follows 2008’s criminally underrated effort ‘The Declaration’.
