‘Sweet Baby’ singer Macy Gray struck a sour chord with the LGBTQ+ community and their allies over the holiday weekend (to say the least) when she took to an interview with Piers Morgan to assert her belief that “just because you go change your parts, doesn’t make you a woman.”
Inciting a fast and furious fallout as a result, Gray has yet to apologize for the comment but did take to press just a day later to say her statement was taken out of context and ‘grossly misunderstood.’
And while the mild backtrack did earn sympathy in some corners including a notable nod from ‘Harry Potter’ author JK Rowling who suggested she was willing to help the GRAMMY winner through the backlash, the overall sentiment remains one of disdain for Macy.
Fed up with the hoopla, the songstress took to Twitter Wednesday (July 6) to impart a stern clap back to detractors.
Nearly three weeks after John Legend first gave fans a taste of ‘Honey,’ the singer-songwriter is serving fans a peek at its delectable music video.
Featuring fellow singer-songwriter Muni Long, the retro-inspired clip comes as fitting accompaniment for the similarly-styled, bedroom-ready tune.

Chris Brown may have spent most of his career fielding comparisons to King of Pop Michael Jackson, but this week his name is nabbing headlines opposite another musical monarch: King of Rock N’ Roll Elvis Presley.
As fans of the latter continue flocking to theaters to see the Baz Luhrmann-directed movie about his life (starring Austin Butler), the icon’s once-untouchable Hot 100 record was quietly shattered by Chris – a feat assisted by the placement of songs found aboard the 33-year-old’s latest album, ‘Breezy.’
Released June 24 (the same day as the ‘Elvis’ film), ‘Breezy’ breezed onto this week’s Billboard 200 as the 12th top 10 hit of the GRAMMY winner’s career thanks to high-powered streaming activity of its 24 tracks. Some of those tracks landed on the Hot 100 this week, boosting Brown’s appearance count on the tally to an all-time high among male singers.

Despite fame for being the creator of ‘Harry Potter,’ the best-selling book series in history (with over 500 million copies sold as of time reported), JK Rowling is considered a posterchild of ‘trans-exclusionary feminism’ – a title earned for years of doubling down on her beliefs against transwomen.
Easily the biggest stain on her otherwise pristine career, the author appears ready to add one more ‘F-U’ to her detractors by announcing a show of support for embattled Soul singer Macy Gray, who recently came under fire for the controversial comment “just because you go change your parts, doesn’t make you a woman.”
As Gray braved the backlash – which included some longtime fans promising to boycott streaming her music and attending her concerts – Rowling took to Twitter to suggest she’s willing to pick up any slack the negative press causes.
