Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be telling their story on their terms in a hotly anticipated interview with Oprah Winfrey.

And exactly one week before its March 7 Primetime premiere, CBS has revealed a first look trailer.

Holding hands, the couple – who made headlines when they stepped back as senior royals after receiving intense scrutiny some say was racially charged – opened up about their experience.

Harry makes comparisons to what his late mother, Princess Diana, ensured, but added: “at least we had each other.”

Today’s From The Vault pick comes courtesy of an R&B prince.

This week’s selection is ‘Because Of You’ by Ne-Yo.

After a successful debut era, it’s safe to say the star – real name Shaffer Smith – was hoping to match his past glories. A little over a year after putting out ‘In My Own Words,’ he released his sophomore set ‘Because Of You’ as well as the title song as its first single in early 2007.

Produced by Stargate and written by Ne-Yo himself, ‘You’ is a groovy disco-infused love song reminiscent of early 80’s Michael Jackson.

It proved to be a wise pick, as it hit #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the US and #4 on the  Official UK Singles Chart.

The song’s video was directed by Melina Matsoukas. It presents the artist stepping out on his girlfriend with a lady he met at the club and then becoming addicted to their late-night rendezvous.

The video features Camila Alves – wife of actor Matthew McConaughey – as Ne-Yo’s girlfriend. It has amassed more than 190 million views to-date.

With ‘Because Of You’ – both the song and album – Ne-Yo proved to the masses that the sophomore slump isn’t a mandatory rite of passage. Additionally, not only was he riding high on his own chart success, but he was also scoring wins left and right through the material he was writing for other acts. Talk about multitasking!

Though the top of the charts hasn’t been populated with Ne-Yo’s music in a long time, he remains R&B royalty and his impact on the music landscape is undeniable. Both as a singer and a songwriter.

Salute to the gentleman with the fire pen game.

2020 may have been the year that built buzz for rising R&B singer Giveon, but 2021 is proving itself the year the 26-year-old is set for breakthrough.

First gaining international notoriety as a feature on Drake‘s hit ‘Chicago Freestyle’ (which peaked at #14 on the Hot 100 last year), the crooner (born Giveon Dezmann Evans) went on to release two EPs in the months that followed – the GRAMMY-nominated ‘Take Time’ (March 2020) and ‘When It’s All Said and Done’ (October 2020).

While those efforts managed to peak at the #70 and #93 rungs respectively on the Billboard 200, an appearance on the Hot 100 eluded Evans – until this week.

Despite constant comparison over their careers for their similar signature brands of heartbroken R&B and melodic misandry, dueling divas Keyshia Cole and K. Michelle haven’t always seen eye-to-eye.

Ahead of his epic Super Bowl LV performance (click here to watch), The Weeknd was already scribbled in Hot 100 history books for the ongoing success of his 2019 ‘After Hours’ hit, ‘Blinding Lights,’ which is listed as the longest-running top 5 and longest-running top 10 hit ever.

Nearly three weeks after scoring a critical touchdown at Tampa’s Raymond James Stadium, the singer (born Abel Tesfaye) is enjoying continued gains on the streaming and digital download front of the songs he perormed that night.

In addition to watching his tune, ‘Save Your Tears,’ rocket into the Hot 100 top 5 for the first time (marking his third ‘After Hours’ song to reach the chart region), Tesfaye’s learned ‘Lights’ – at #4 on the refreshed tally – is shining in the top 10 for its 50th week.

It not only extends his record for longest-running top 10 (and top 5) hit, but also comes as the first time any artist has enjoyed as lengthy of a run inside the tally’s topmost dectet with one song.

Hop in to see who joins him on this week’s ‘TGJ Chart Check: Hot 100.’
