Katy Perry strut back onto the scene with her seventh studio album, ‘143.’
Named after the numerical translation for ‘love,’ the upbeat set saw the Pop star dart onto the dancefloor with unapologetic gusto.
Purposefully upbeat, the project was previewed by way of singles such as ‘Woman’s World,’ ‘Lifetimes,’ and ‘I’m His, He’s Mine’ with Deochii.
The journey to the LP’s release hasn’t been without its speedbumps, however.
Indeed, sans ‘Woman’s World,’ none of the follow-up offerings have managed to chart on the Billboard Hot 100.
There has also been the omnipresent discourse surrounding Dr. Luke‘s contribution to the record given the headlines and legal drama that have plagued the producer in recent years. And, even though the hitmaker was never found liable for anything he stood accused of, the sour public sentiment appears to have spilled into corners of Perry’s campaign if online chatter is anything to go by.
Still, with the final numbers tallied, there’s been some reprieve.
