As if earning a #1 hit on the R&B charts with his Ella Mai-assisted ‘Don’t Waste My Time’ wasn’t enough, R&B veteran Usher also recently saw his name printed atop iTunes R&B tallies for his Tyga-assisted song, ‘California’ (click here to listen).

The warm response to his lengthy absence from the music scene has apparently encouraged the 8x GRAMMY winner to unveil even more new music as evidenced by the recently released, ‘I Cry.’

An emotional cut seemingly inspired by the ongoing racial unrest in America, Ush croons on the track:

“I cry / For the sons without fathers / And the pain that their mothers / Hold deep inside / And I’ll fight / For the future we’re making / We can change if we face it / ‘Cause these tears won’t dry / So I cry…”

Last week, R&B crooner August Alsina re-emerged to announce the June 26th arrival of his comeback album, ‘The Product III: stateofEMERGEncy.’

A 27-track affair, the LP – his third – marks his first studio effort since 2015’s ‘This Thing Called Life’ and also comes as his first apart from longtime label home Def Jam.

While Doja Cat‘s breakthrough hit, ‘Say So,’ can only boast a singular week atop the Billboard Hot 100, the song’s domination at Pop Radio has extended for over a month.

Consistently racking up airtime from some of the top stations in the United States, those who thought the rising rapstress’ racism scandal would deter airplay were sadly mistaken as the Dr. Luke-crafted jam continued to best the performance of some of the day’s top hits on the format (as we reported here).

After six weeks of riding high atop the Pop Radio charts, however, week 7 saw ‘Say So’ say goodbye to the tally’s summit.

John Legend‘s been trumpeting the arrival of his new studio album, ‘Bigger Love,’ for most of 2020, but after its June 19 release the EGOT winner went into overdrive in its support.

In addition to tackling radio, print, and Web, Legend’s taken to television to increase awareness of the project.  Among his standout appearances was a visit to ‘The Tonight Show’ earlier this week (June 22) to rendered the live television debut of new song, ‘Ooh Laa.’

Backed by a quartet of instrumentalists alongside his three backup singers, the 41-year-old delivered a doo-wop/Big Band flair to the ‘Bigger’ album cut.

Just four months ago (as we reported here), Pop titan Adele sent fans into a frenzy by announcing her new album was slated for a September 2020 release.

The project – which would serve as the follow-up to her last Diamond-certified effort ’25’ – would bring to close a nearly 5-year wait for a new body of work from the songstress.

Now, if word from her manager Jonathan Dickins is to be believed, that wait’s been extended.

Case in point ‘Like That,’ the video for which dropped moments ago.

Nicki Minaj’s inspirational rise to the top has been credited for reintroducing Hip-Hop to the mainstream in the mid ’10s and creating a clear path for female rappers hoping to follow in her footsteps.

Unfortunately, as many of her fans will remember, there was once a time (circa 2007) when the entertainment industry was opposed to investing in lady lyricists after seeing a number of Hip-Hop’s leading lose their selling power in the mid 2000s.

Today, the demo tape which would go on to change the landscape has reemerged.
