Lee Daniels is no stranger to giving some of history’s most noted figures their flowers.

The Academy Award-nominated director is not only responsible for the award-winning 2013 film ‘The Butler’ (loosely based on the life of Eugene Allen), but he’s also enjoying acclaim for directing the 2021 film, ‘The United States vs. Billie Holiday’ (for which its star, Andra Day, nabbed a Best Actress Academy Award nomination).

Now, he has his sights set on Pop icon/longtime friend Mariah Carey.

As the age-old adage goes, patience is a virtue. And, for Normani fans, it looks like that saying may hold true.

This summer will be two years since the singer blazed the scene with her solo breakout smash ‘Motivation.’

Arriving after the Billboard success of Khalid and Sam Smith collabs, the track and its highly viral video catapulted the former Fifth Harmony singer into definitive “next up” territory.

In the time since the music industry ground to a relative standstill due to the global health crisis, but it didn’t stop the star’s work on her debut solo album.

Indeed, she’s been in the lab with the likes of The-Dream, Scott Storch, and Rodney Jerkins.

With anticipation sky-high for the grand unveiling of her new material (which she has been teasing), the 24-year-old has provided an update of sorts.

R-E-S-P-E-C-T is the one thing the estate of Aretha Franklin says they did not receive from the makers of ‘Genius: Aretha,’ a miniseries designed to chronicle the diva’s historic rise to fame.

For that reason, they’re calling for a boycott of the National Geographic TV special.

The 2021 GRAMMYs proved to be a night to remember for Megan Thee Stallion.

For, the Hot Girl Coach scored historic touchdowns by becoming the first female act to win Best Rap Performance, the first female Hip-Hop act to win Best Rap Song, and the only female Hip-Hop star (besides Lauryn Hill) to win Best New Artist.

Aptly, she was booked to hit the stage and she made sure to blaze it.

Greatness, of course, is facilitated by preparation. And now Meg is inviting the masses into her rehearsal process.

Christened Road to the GRAMMYs, the lengthy episode of Hottie World showcases the femcee and her creative director JaQuel Knight putting in work for what ended up being a stellar performance.

‘The Talk’ is turning down the volume for another week.

In the wake of Sharon Osbourne‘s shocking eruption during a race debate with Sheryl Underwood on March 10, bosses have taken the show off-air as they launched an investigation.

It appears the probe centers on the 68-year-old’s defense of Piers Morgan‘s widely-condemned comments about race in the wake of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry‘s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Originally set to return tomorrow (March 17), it’s been confirmed that no live shows will air until March 23.

As for why? It appears the growing discourse around Osbourne from former co-workers is proving difficult to ignore.

After initially issuing an apology to the Black community for a shocking outburst on The Talk, Sharon Osbourne is now claiming to have been “blindsided” by her co-hosts.

As reported, the TV maven was consumed with fury in defense of her friend Piers Morgan, whose dismissal of Meghan Markle‘s suicidal feelings saw him “leave” popular UK morning show Good Morning Britain. A development that took place against the backdrop of over 41,000 formal complaints about his conduct to UK regulator Ofcom.

Markle’s claims were unpacked during her and Prince Harry’s seismic interview with Oprah Winfrey and highlighted ill-treatment the couple says was racially charged. Specifically as relates to The Talk, it ignited a conversation about whether Morgan’s shocking dismissal was rooted in racism.

Osbourne’s fiery eruption, which is now a viral moment, has snowballed into a story in and of itself.

And now the host is adding fresh chapters.

If you were among those who thought The Weeknd (born Abel Tesfaye) would just get over being snubbed for a nomination at the 2021 GRAMMYs, his recent sit-down with ‘New York Times’ suggests you couldn’t be any more wrong.

Despite owning one of the century’s most blockbuster eras courtesy of his hit fourth album, 2020’s ‘After Hours,’ Tesfaye was an afterthought for the Recording Academy who omitted his name from mention in any category for this year’s GRAMMY Awards.

As many of his industry peers (including Drake and Nicki Minaj) rallied around him in support, the singer-songwriter took to social media and press at the time to express his disappointment in the omission – even referring to the GRAMMY voting process as ‘corrupt.’

To further his stance, he’s announced he will not be submitting any of his future chart-topping hits for the Academy’s consideration.

It’s finally here!

After ample teasing, Doja Cat has finally unveiled the official music video for her latest single, ‘Streets.’

The Blaq Tuxedo-produced cut, which features a prominent sample of B2K‘s ‘Streets is Callin,’ had already nabbed Cat the third top 20 hit of her career thanks to its part in Tik Tok’s viral ‘Silhouette Challenge’ earlier this year.

In an effort to keep that momentum going, the rising rapstress has unleashed the tune’s Christian Breslauer-directed music video – which also sees her share screen time with ‘Queen Sugar’ leading man Kofi Siriboe.
