At one time, yearly Rihanna albums were as much a certainty as the sun rising. However, the rollercoaster ‘ANTI’ campaign saw the star’s musical trajectory take a hard left – sonically, visually, and collaboratively.

And its a trend the 30-year-old looks set to continue. Because she’s teaming up with rising  alt-R&B star H.E.R.

Khia‘s music career dried up almost as quickly as it began.

However, recent years have found the ‘My Neck, My Back’ rapper using roasting as means of enjoying relevance on some corners of the web.

And while one would think that the spotlight received from her stint on ‘The Queen’s Court’ and more recently ‘Gag Order’ would gift her better stages to perform on.

Wrong.

Because, the 40-year-old is still seemingly rocking local living rooms and senior citizen centers.

Still, keen to put on a show for her fans, the femcee’s most recent offering saw her deliver an acoustic version of ‘My Neck, My Back.’

Azealia Banks‘ efforts to storm the industry once again were backed by the Ultra Music Festival hours ago.

How so? The live music event invited the rapper to perform at its latest showing and rock its audience with a setlist made up of some of her more well-known jams!

How she fared? Nicely. Was it as good as her Glastonbury showcase? No.

Why not? Though enjoyable, last night’s performance lacked the fire and charisma Azealia showcased with ease on stage circa 2012.

Will you agree with our estimation?

As we previously reported here, March 24th brought with it the ‘March For Our Lives’ rally – a demonstration for stricter laws around gun control.  Organized by the survivors of last month’s Parkland school shooting, the march – hosted in Washington, D.C. today –  not only drew hundreds of thousands to attend, but also spurred several hundred sister protests across the United States and world.

With celebrity contributions (either financially, attendance, or attention) coming from the likes of Taylor SwiftKanye West, Kim Kardashian, George Clooney, Oprah and many more, some opted to take to the stage to lend their voices through performance or fiery speeches.

Look inside to see highlights from the day’s event including performances from Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande, Jennifer Hudson, and Miley Cyrus:

8 long years separated fans of Toni Braxton from her last solo studio effort, ‘Pulse,’ and her newest offering, ‘Sex & Cigarettes.’

Granted, it’s only been half that time since the diva released new music overall, last time tapping longtime collaborator Babyface to assist.  But, unlike that album – 2014’s Grammy-winning ‘Love, Marriage, & Divorce’ – ‘Cigarettes’ puts the 50-year-old beauty back front and center by her lonesome.

Kicked off by the Urban contemporary cuts ‘Deadwood’ and ‘Long As I Live,’ Braxton’s latest project, critically speaking, has been welcomed by longtime fans as a worthy entry to her impressive discography.  Unfortunately, if industry analyst predictions are to go by, that sentiment was not shared by the music buying public at large.

Undoubtedly experiencing a “soft launch” to say the least, ‘Cigarettes’ (to date) has not been provided the promo push its predecessors were afforded.  If that will impact the album’s commercial performance in the long run has yet to be seen, but in the here and now the LP looks to have an uphill climb ahead:

Like most things Beyonce, the arrival of her ‘Formation’ music video was a pop culture event.

Beyond being a bodacious bop, the track and its accompanying visual served as a bold and unapologetic celebration of the Black reality. Something its unconventional debut as an unlisted video (then ineligible to chart) seemed to cement.

In the time since its premiere, the ‘Lemonade’ jam received its commercial due – first earning Bey a top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 and now crossing a major milestone on VEVO.
